~ Ice ~ Doe and Fawn ~ Lazy Boy ~

Good 27º morning. Hmmm.... 7º warmer than yesterday. Is it globalwarming Mr. Gore???
I was out taking pictures yesterday morning, trying to capture the icy feel...

I don't know if you can see the rainbow of colors in the tall
grass as the sun hit the ice.
Mr. Towhee was keeping his red eyes on me!

The ice was clinging to the branches....

And then I had visitors..... sooooo precious!

Yesterday Pat, yet another Pat in my circle of friends, came here and we went to the JCRW lunch together. Our speaker was Holly Swanson, activist and author of Set Up and Sold Out. She spoke of the Green Agenda, Green Party, their communist link, etc. She talked about how the Green Agenda is infiltrating into our schools, without any understanding or knowledge by our teachers and how this is going to brain wash our children and steps we need to take to stop it. Interesting. She's a dynamo! Ruth, our President, was on a roll yesterday. She was funny and silly. She made us laugh. Good meeting!

Came home and my new waffle iron had been delivered by UPS. Yeah. Today it's savory waffle day!  Maggie and I went to Dave and PJ's, did a house check, fish check, and got the model number off the bottom of her phone so the folks at Vtech can give me instructions for PJ on how to remotely delete messages. Chatted with PJ and was told Debbie had a horrible toothache and had one taken out yesterday. She was feeling some better. Hard to be not feeling well when you are so far away from home.  Dinner was reruns of that great Costco shrimp salad and I added diced cooked sweet potato. We watched TV and snoozed.

Had a nice chat with Aaron. He and Marie (pronounced Mary) are getting married Monday, Valentine's Day, in Saint Marie's (pronounced Saint Mary's). They will be down this way in June and we'll have a "Wedding Happening" then complete with wedding cake!

All I know. Will make a run to Grants Pass and stop in Brian's office today to drop of his Costco requests, Mike's salmon, pick up some cookies I understand she left for me, and stop in at Staples for printer ink. (That ought to bankrupt me!) Later I'll make those waffles with buckwheat flour, ham, and cheese. Maybe even the brownie ones. Naaaaa... one at a time!!!

Nuff said. Happy Friday.

~ Shopping ~ Kyrgyzstan ~ Ummmmmm-BELLLLA Day ~

Good 20º morning. Again... burrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

So early yesterday I went to the Republican HQ and Laraine and I stuffed about 120 envelopes, sealed, and put stamps on them. We also had a nice chat. Then I left for Costco but detoured to Harry and David.

They have been all over the news being in bankruptcy. Talked to one of their associates and they are going to be fine. Yeah! I picked up 3 pounds of discontinued coffees..... Moosemunch Peanut Butter Chocolate, Moosemunch regular, and

Decaf Hazlenut Praline Cinnamon .. all whole beans. Also got some Flaxseed and Multigrain chips, and some Garlic Smoked Mozzarella dip. Oh my. Good. (got a taste) And then I saw it..... Bob's Big Boy Blue Cheese Dressing!!!! OMG. I couldn't believe it. Of course, I bought one. Ahhhh the memories of a "Big Boy Combo, add avocado, and a side of blue cheese". Pure unadulterated heaven.

Then to Food 4 Less...

Picked up some stone ground buckwheat waffle mix and some stone ground red wheat waffle mix, some fat free all natural FUDGE BROWNIE MIX..Cappuccino flavor, and some fresh basil to infuse into vodka (another project), and some Valentine goodies for Tucker and Sami.  I also bought a whole box (8)of my favorite candies.... Ice Breakers cinnamon flavor.

Then to Costco....

Picked up a shrimp salad ($12.00 but it will last at least 2-3 meals)with a mayo dressing and basil, lettuce, and celery. Good! I got lobster ravioli, blueberries, baby spinach, and grape tomatoes. Got Brian some artichokes, doggie dental chews, and pig ears. Returned the chicken jerky that was giving Maggie bright yellow poops (made in China .. now so untrustworthy.)  I got PJ's sister, Mike, canned salmon that she likes and will drop it off at Brian's office that is near her house so she can pick it up when she passes by.

Lunch yesterday was really good. I took the leftover chicken noodle soup, added more carrots and more broth, the leftover rice from the Chinese restaurant and the orange chicken, and some sliced up stuffed green olives, rosemary sea salt and some lemon sea salt. Yummmmy!

The sun came and went all day. Rained in between. Not enough to measure.

    And "Texas Dan" formerly of LASD at the Range... Happy Birthday Danny Boy!!! Is Judi taking you out on the town or cookin'up something good at home??? xo
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    From the recipe exchange Trish started I received the following awesomely good sounding salad recipe from Tina (?)...
    CARROT POMEGRANATE SALAD
    Shred carrots-place in a bowl
    add pomegranate seeds to carrots
    add a can of mandarin oranges with juice
    toss thoroughly and refrigerate for several hours
    sprinkle with sesame seeds prior to serving!!
    VERY YUMMY-HEALTHY AND REFRESHING----ENJOY
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    So, then I Googled "carrot pomegranate salad" and found this:
    This one sounds Greek. I will make it. Hmmm... probably make both
    to see which one I like best. Now to find some pomegranates!

    Carrot and yogurt salad with pomegranate
    2 garlic cloves
    350g thick natural yogurt
    Squeeze lemon juice
    1 tbsp olive oil
    3 decent-sized carrots, approx 500g
    1 pomegranate
    25g bunch mint
    Peel and chop the garlic. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt and crush to a paste. Stir the garlic into the yogurt in a mixing bowl. Beat in the lemon juice and olive oil. Grate the carrots on the large hole of the grater. To loosen the pomegranate seeds, roll the fruit on a hard surface a couple of times, pressing down with the heel of your hand. Cut the fruit in half and either bang one half of the fruit against the side of the bowl or use a teaspoon to remove the seeds, discarding white pith and skin. Shred the mint leaves. Stir carrot, mint and pomegranate into the yogurt. Mix thoroughly, then transfer to a platter. Serves 4

    All I know. Nuff said. Going to work at the Republican HQ today for a bit and then make a run up the hill to Costco. Ciao.
