Rain ~ Fish Stew ~ Dragons ~

Good 47º raining morning.

Looks like since yesterday afternoon we've gotten
So, yesterday I cleaned out stuff.... everywhere... sort of like having ADHD and opening a cupboard, tossing out something, opening the freezer and tossing out stuff there too! Oh look, there's a squirrel!!!

Well I came across frozen bottom fish that Patty and Cliff had caught and packaged. I decided to make Fish Stew.

First I took some Christopher Ranch chopped garlic, anchovie fillets that had been soaked in water for about 5 minutes-rinsed-patted dry and put them in the bullet blender until they became a paste. (This can also be done with a mortar and pestle.) Set aside. Cook 1 chopped onion in olive oil with 2 cans of sliced mushrooms until crusty on the edges. Add garlic/anchovie paste and stir in. Chop 8 slices of bacon and cook until crispy. Drain.

Add all of the above to the crockpot, adding two cans of diced tomatoes. I also added two fresh chopped tomatoes that were reaching the end of their life span.

To this I added 1 box of Imagine Potato Soup
and a couple cups of water.

I cooked the anellini pasta and added
that and then the cut up fish fillets.

 along with some orange zest...

4 red potatoes cut bite-size and a couple glergs of lemon juice.

I also added 'Rosemary' sea salt, lots of black Sonoma pepper, and a handful of red pepper flakes to make it 'spicy'!!!
This cooked on low for about 6 hours. The fish I used was very firm, and it stays together, doesn't flake apart.

I must say, this is AWESOME tasting!!!!

Elk ~ Dress Up Pets Day

Good 45º morning. Clouds sitting down right on top of us!

Lots of rain yesterday. First thing the heard of elk were out in my pasture. I got a couple of pictures that came out decent. The low light makes it really hard to capture them without the picture coming out blurry...

Maggie is still having the drinking/peeing problem consuming copious amounts of water and needing to go out a lot. Yesterday morning she "leaked" on the bed. A small spot, but all the same....  So I jumped up (since I felt it on my arm...ugh) and let her out. Then I stripped the bed, washed the sheets and mattress cover. Brian said the cleaners next to his office would have my comforter done in one day if I got it there before 10am. These folks at Vogue Cleaners are SO NICE! Anyway, since I had the JCRW luncheon and had to be there early I left here at 9, dropped off the comforter, met Ruth and the girls to set up for the luncheon. Our speaker was former Jackson Co Sheriff, CW Smith, and he is now a County Commissioner ( http://www.co.jackson.or.us/members.asp?memberid=34 ). Nice guy. Chatty. You might recall me talking about our Ronald Reagan BBQ last year and he appointed me his Deputy to "arrest" prominent members, bring them to the "jail" and then their bail was auctioned off.  He spoke at length yesterday and we didn't get out of there until 2pm. Too late to go to Costco, needed to get home and let Maggie out!!! Then we headed to Vogue to pick up the comforter. I was tired when I got home and didn't even cook dinner! Snacked. Showered. Went to bed early!

The skies yesterday with the clouds and the sun trying to peek through in a few places was pretty.....

The first photo is on I-5 just out of Central Point heading north. (Actually I-5 goes east and west until it hits Grants Pass, then it goes north and south again.) the second one is coming up to Rogue River.
Today is lunch with Candy at Tap Rock. Their crab BLT salad is my favorite and apparently her's too! We shall enjoy.

Rubber Duckie Day

Good 40º raining morning. 1/4" so far. Heard it coming down in buckets about 4:15 this morning. Was dreaming that Obama DEMANDED a tour of the range and Jerry was taking him. I was dressed in my range uniform (yellow shirt, green pants) and was admitted into the building. Super high security because BO was there! LOL I couldn't find them and woke up frustrated. Must have been watching the memorial in Tucson last night that triggered that dream!

I can't post any photos, sum ting wong. I get an error message that says "the requested url was not found on this server"....whatever that means. Always always something!!!!! When I get a chance I'll call AOL and see what they have to say! (UPDATE...ok, so I downloaded the newest version of AOL and now I can add photos!!!!)

Dinner last night was great ... I cooked a couple of yams in the microwave, cut up some white chicken breast into bite sized pieces and cooked it in garlic olive oil, added some canned sliced mushrooms, cooked more until slightly crispy on edges, added cut up cooked yam, garlic powder, Sonoma pepper, rosemary sea salt, lemon zest, and a splash of pomegranet balsamic vinegar. Really GOOD!!! That and a glass of chard ... perfect.

An ELA Deputy trainee was shot yesterday. The bullet hit his cheek and he may lose the eye. His training officer was bruised up in the fight with the suspect, a local gangster just released from jail, and the suspect was killed. Follow up on the Deputy when I hear.

Today is JCRW and I have to be there early to help Ruth with a project. Then to Costco.

Yesterday I was looking for photos and found a lot of them I had put on CDs, but they wouldn't download on this computer, so I used my laptop and put them all on an external hard drive. Yeah!! Danged CDs get corrupted.
