40 Years Ago ~ Parisian Lunch ~ Jennifer Heaven & Keeper ~ Buffalo Popcorn ~ Clam Chowder

Good very very foggy 44º pressure is dropping morning

On this date 40 years ago Jerry and I went on our first date. The dinner was awesome, the date was magic, I was in love instantly! (So was he!) I miss you Darling!  ♥

I watched one of my favorite shows on Public Broadcasting TV called Rick Steves Europe. It was 'Highlights of Paris'... on my bucket list. My friend Adele is taking her granddaughter there for her graduation present. (I expect lots of pictures Del!!!)  He took a friend of his to lunch at a local cafe and had "all the traditional French dishes' in one meal.... and 'aperitif' (ah-per-i-teefuh-per-; French a-pey-ree-teef "a small drink of alcoholic liquor taken to stimulate the
appetite before a meal.") then it was onion soup,

the escargot...

(which he had never eaten but said it was good. I've never eaten it either.), then the main course accompanied with red wine was steak tartar. (ground raw lean beef mixed with spices and an egg yolk).

A plate of various cheeses

accompanied by more wine. He said "you eat the cheese until the wine is gone, or you drink the wine until the cheese is gone".  Then créme brulée
,
followed by coffee and then
Cognac.

OMG, I was drooling....

Then there was my meal... cheesy broccoli rice (about 2/3 cup) on steamed veggies...

Yesterday I went to GP for a visit with my friend Jennifer. She has two of the neatest dogs ever.... Heaven (the white one) who is the biggest and most gentle sweet dog and Keeper... That look on his face is precious! I took them treats... natch... and when I left Jennifer said Heaven tried to follow me. She snuck out the gate just before it closed and headed to the road. OMG! Jennifer said she's never done that before. Musta been the treats!!! Let me tell ya... it's great to be loved!!!

So how about a treat for TV watching....
Buffalo Popcorn

Pop your corn the way you normally do... in a pan with oil or an air popper or in a paper bag in the microwave...
Melt about 4 T. butter, add in 1/4 cup Franks Buffalo Wing Sauce. Simmer for a couple minutes. Drizzle over popcorn and mix well. Chop some fresh chives and sprinkle them on top. Salt to taste. OMGOOD!!!!
Now, you can also do this.... before sprinkling with chives put the popcorn on two cookie sheets and bake in a 400º oven for 15 minutes. It will be really crisp when cooled. Then sprinkle on the chives.
.... or make some chicken wings... bake til crispy and mix with butter and buffalo wing sauce. AWESOME!

All I know. Happy Tuesday. Nuff said. Ciao.

February 25th.
National Clam Chowder Day
(and if you were in Bastan..Boston, sorry... you'd ask for a "Cupachowda"...one word!)

What's your favorite? New England clam chowder is made with clams, milk, potatoes, and a bit of salted pork. Manhattan clam chowder is a tomato-based clam soup that's a little thinner than the white stuff. Having emerged as a Friday tradition during Lent, clam chowder is a warm, delicious choice for lunch or dinner regardless of whether it's red or white!

Oh I just love both kinds of clam chowder! Campbell used to have both kinds which I loved. Haven't bought the red kind in years tho. John likes the white.

That popcorn sounds heavenly!
Heaven is sure a beautiful dog and I can imagine how sweet he is.

Not fond of that French menu. Will never ever eat snails nor the raw meat. lol Yea, not adventuresome. Love the onion soup and cheese and dessert tho! Oh and all the wine too! :)

Ha ha ha.. Trish, you like most of my friends turn up their noses and say "ewwwwww" at new or different kinds of foods. You don't know if you like it or not if you don't try it ... once. xo

There are just some things that make me want to gag and snails are one of those. No raw meat and of course no sushi. No, don't want to try those.

I haven't made onion soup in the longest time.

My "shape" cannot lie- I do make one of the best crème brulees
ever.

Ok, Trish, so you are not adventurous when it comes to food. I can understand that. xo
