Smoke ~ Butterflies & Frogs ~ Karma ~ Sir Reginald's Organ ~ Doe & Fawns ~ Pickled Asparagus Martini ~ Lighthouse History

Good 50º clear so far morning.
Yesterday started out slightly smokey... wasn't sure if it was smoke or the predicted "partially cloudy" on the top of my mountain, but about 8:45 there was no doubt it was smoke. My mountain was disappearing:
By 9:30 gone!
Closed up the house even though it was still a comfortable 70º, but nasty to breath that air!
Here is the ODF site for fire updates..
PICTURE OF THE DAY...
Butterflies drinking the tears of turtles...
The term is called lachryphagy...
Pal Liz Duncan (LASD Sgt) posted this. I sooooo agree!!!!

Breakfast was the last one of two Asian Chicken wraps.. with some of that creamy garlic sauce. OMGOOOOOOOOD!!!!

Every night I record and watch Lester Holt and the NBC nightly news .. get the East Coast feed here at 3:30pm. They always start with the NY news signing off and with a view of Times Square. So, 6:30pm height of tourist season and all that traffic!
Sorry, picture is fuzzy, used my iPhone. Will try again with my camera. All that traffic and pedestrians. Blows me away!
Lunch.... a wild rice cake and a white cheddar rice cake.. topped with the Sesame Honey Butter and the other with the creamy garlic spread and tomato. YUMMMM!!!

Yesterday was exciting. I cleaned, tossed out stuff, boxed up stuff to go to the Community Center, refilled hummingbird feeders, watered, did laundry, vacuumed, washed the dog snot off my front and dining room doors..... thanks Dude! I call it 'doggie kanji' (Japanese script!)

Received this from email pal, Dave Clark (LASD ret)
Sir Reginald's Marvelous Organ
(English humor!!!)

..... And as the old saying goes, "What's better than roses on your piano? Tulips on your organ."

About noon I looked outside and by a flock of tukeys was a mamma deer and three babies! Sorry, picture taken through door and screen so I wouldn't frighten them...

Cocktail hour:
I made a martini with pickled asparagus juice and asparagus spears...

The cocktail shaker belonged to my parents. It's an ancient antique. I don't recall them drinking after I was born. Daddy still smoked cigars for a while, and occasionally Mom would have a tiny Tia Maria. After two sips she'd lose her voice! LOL.
Quite an interesting debate last night!
All I know. Happy TGIF. Nuff said. Ciao.

August 7th
National Lighthouse Day

This lighthouse is in Nova Scotia. Went there on a cruise in 2008 with the New Jersey Joan and a bunch of retired deputies... (Myrons and Morenos with their Deputies On The Go,  and others...)
