Thunder Storm ~ Eggplant Stir-Fry ~ Webworms ~ Whiskey Sour Bundt Cake

Good 60º (yuck) 74% humid morning. 'Glowing' (women glow, men sweat) already!!!

BREAKING NEWS: President Obama has just confirmed that the DC earthquake occurred on a rare and obscure fault-line, apparently known as "Bush's Fault".

After I poo poo'd the storm we were to get, clouds built up.

Then about 30 minutes later, thunder. One clap and 5 min later the second.

Thunder puts Maggie and Harley into tailspins. Scares them to pieces. Maggie pants and pants and won't let me out of her sight. I usually sit on the floor and she gets as close as possible. Then the rain started, but ended as fast. Got 12 or 6 drops. Stayed cloudy and cool (64º) for some time. Nice. Then the sun came out and it heated up...

I had to go open the gate for TJ, the pest control guy. On the way down a bunch of baby turkeys were out...

They are almost full size now. They certainly are not
afraid of me or Maggie!

Anyway, TJ put poison in the holes

in the front yard to get rid of Mr. Gopher.
He also put some poison in the wood pile by the
Madrone tree that the ground squirrels have taken
up residence in and he even put some bait in the
holes by my burn pile. Such a good guy!

On the news today they were talking about the
devastation from the earthquake back east and
my friend Dennis sent a picture from Northern Virginia....

Wonder how they will ever recover from that!

An outbreak of 'webworms' in this area has everyone nervous, but according to the Oregon State Extension Office, they are not harmful. If you live here and have noticed these webs on your trees, Madrone's especially, read this article..

This web filled with worms is on my Madrone in the back of the house...

Yesterday the sky was spectacular with clouds everywhere...

Dinner last night was a stir-fry...

Soba noodles, cabbage, bell pepper, banana peppers,
grape tomatoes, egg plant, and spicy hot Spam.
Grated on some mozzarella cheese and added the
sauce packet from the noodles along with a pat of
butter and some lemon juice. AWESOME!

We went to bed at 9pm. At about 11pm the thunder started again and it was relentless, fortunately it headed west and was finally gone, but Maggie shook and panted for another hour! Sigh....

This morning it is beautiful...

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Thursday. BBQ night!
