Good 59º clear and sunny morning. By 1pm yesterday it was 93º and in 20 minutes it was 96º. Hit a high of 99º. Today should be about the same then in the next couple days the temps go up to the 105º-108º range. Swell.  Suzanne, up in Idaho said her morning yesterday started out at 80º!

LA City Council wants to take gun rights away from retired cops... they want the guns locked up at all times when not in use. Exempt are current regular and reserve officers. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You mean to tell me that just because they are retired they are not still targets for bad guys and that they can't step in and save someone's life in a terror situation???????????? Or their own life or a member of their family?????????????????????
Today a special birthday.. former Temple City neighbor Debbie Mehl Taylor. Here she is with her 3 girls, Heather, Lindsay, and Heidi.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEBBIE!!!! xo

Weather ~ Yogurt/Mandarin Oranges/Laney Honey ~ Dog Watches Ducklings ~ Doctor's Salaries ~ Alex Jack Sami ~ Dave Smail ~ Wimer Bridge & Deer ~ Waffle Iron Cooking

Good 61º slightly cooler morning. Still clear and gonna be HOT later! Yesterday was not too bad, stayed in the 80ºs which was great for the National Track & Field Championships held this past weekend in Eugene Oregon.
Yesterday apparently we did get some moisture as I heard it dripping into the rain gutter. Didn't appear that anything was wet though. This was 6:30am...
The turkeys were migrating down the hill...

Breakfast: Plain Greek yogurt, mandarin oranges, and Laney Honey!

This is awesome.. a rescue dog (who looks just like my Dude!!) watches over baby ducklings...

This is interesting... doctors salaries:

After a quick run through of chores, a shower, then a quick trip into Grants Pass to Safeway for a few essentials... I found this...
I HAD to buy it. Came home, unloaded car, put away groceries, and got out some caramel corn rice cakes (sigh... most of them fell apart!) and spread on the Chocolate Cheesecake Hazelnut spread...
While in Grants Pass about 6 raindrops fell on my windshield. Then back in Rogue River another 5 or so. Speaking of Rogue River... this weekend is the Rooster Crow. I didn't go to the parade yesterday and not to the car show or to the booths today either. Just too hot for me...

When I got home I unloaded the car and Dude jumped in. He wanted a ride... so he got one all the way into the carport!

Brian sent me this: Having fun!

In the afternoon Patty called. She and Cliff will be heading back to the cool coast today and wanted me to come up for a glass of wine... They live close to the Wimer Bridge.

On July 5, 2003 Brian and Jen were on his Harley touring the area and passed across this bridge. Then next day a man and his two grandsons were walking across the bridge,  a pickup truck drove over it, and the bridge collapsed! The grandfather and his grandsons sustained serious injuries. It, of course, was re-built.
So... up at Patty and Cliff's is this deer that visits often. She feels safe up there.....
In a bit she came up on the deck and looked in the window!
Had a great chat with my friends, came home, had reruns for dinner!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Monday. Ciao.

Waffle Iron Day
Waffle Iron Day celebrates this great kitchen gadget that makes tasty waffles. Waffles are cooked between two metal plates. A waffle iron is powered by electricity to heat the plates and create, light waffles ready for you to top with syrup, and/or your favorite fruits.
Waffles are not just for breakfast. They are good for lunch or dinner, too.
The origin of the waffle:  The waffle dates back to the 1300s in Greece. Greeks cooked flat cakes between two metal pans. At the time, they topped it with cheeses and herbs. Pancake syrup wasn't around back then.
You do know how to celebrate this day.......don't you!? If you don't have a waffle iron, today is a good day to go out and buy one. If you are too busy to make waffles ourself, buy some frozen in your grocery store, or order them out at a restaurant.
I love cooking in my waffle iron: refrigerator biscuits, slice open, put in cheese... cookie dough! .... or cinnamon rolls.... or a quesidilla... or bacon....or eggs... or little shredded potato nuggets!

I was so happy to hear that murder/escapee, Matt, from NY was sent to his maker! Now let's hope Sweat is caught soon! Frightening for all those living in that area.
This came from Ron Wisberger (LASD ret)... new technology to keep drivers safe. Awesome!
Today is my oldest sister's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BETTY!!! She's celebrating her 16th birthday with 71 years of experience!

The following came from my friend Nancy (Kujala) Sammons (Wilson S'63).... This wouldn't work for me and a number of my friends, as we live in the boonies... but if you live in the city this is a great idea.
Put your car keys beside your bed at  night. Tell your spouse, your children, your neighbors, your parents, your doctor's office, the check out girl at the market, everyone you run across... PUT YOUR CAR KEYS BESIDE YOUR BED AT NIGHT.
If you hear a noise outside your home or someone is trying to get in your house, just press the alarm button for your car. The alarm will go off and the horn will continue to sound until either you turn it off or the car battery dies.
This tip came from a neighborhood watch coordinator. Next time you come home for the night and you start to put your keys away, think of this: It's a security alarm system that you probably already have and requires no installation. Test it. It will go off from most everywhere inside your house. It works if you park in your driveway or garage.
If your car alarm goes off when someone is trying to break into your house, odds are the burglar/rapist won't stick around. After a few seconds all the neighbors will be looking out their windows to see who is out there and sure enough the criminal won't want that. Also, remember to carry  your keys while walking to your car in a parking lot. The alarm will work the same way there. You really should share this with everyone. Maybe it will save a life or a sexual abuse crime. It also would be useful for any emergency such as a heart attack where you can't reach the phone. It was suggested to a woman's husband to take his keys with him in case he falls outside and she doesn't hear him. He can activate the car alarm and then she'll know there is a problem.
Brian flew to LA yesterday morning. Meeting up with Jen and the kids at the Paradise Pier Hotel (Click here: Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel | Disneyland Resort ) next to Disneyland. Alex and Jack met them there too. They were going hang out at the pool the rest of the day and head to the park today.

Brian sent this later... after an afternoon in the pool Sami was in bed!

I have been experiencing leg cramps and foot cramps for some time now. Someone told me not too long ago it's one of my cholesterol meds that is causing the problem. I read the other day about our body's need for Magnesium.
I ordered some Magnesium Citrate
from Amazon and they got here in 2 days. I started taking them and low and behold, the cramps have subsided!!! YES!!!! The first link above will tell you what you are eating to cause a deficiency.
Dinner was fake crab and stir fry noodles....

... with artichoke hearts, mushrooms, reconstituted carrots and tomato bits, and some Del Rio Chardonnay....

Everything into the pan with olive oil and a quick heating stir fry...

The noodles are spread open and added along with the sauce mix in the package...

Of course, if you don't like fake crab .. use fresh, or some of that leftover rotisserie chicken, or canned salmon or fresh!
All I know. Nuff said. Happy Sunday. Ciao.

Insurance Awareness Day

(My Brian in front of his office)

Insurance Awareness Day has got to be one of your top holidays, right!? Now, at this point, one must be asking... Why Insurance Awareness Day? Good question.
Insurance, be it home, auto or life insurance, offers you peace of mind that if something happens, you will be financially protected. Of course when it comes to life insurance, if something happens, you won't be around to worry about the outcome.
Insurance is a gamble. If you buy it, you're gambling that something will go wrong. If you don't buy it, you're gambling that something will not happen.
Were not sure what you should do to enjoy and appreciate this day. We are certain what the insurance companies would like you to do today........
