Clear Sky ~ Sal and Jan ~ Kid Inventions ~ TBT ~ Jack Fimple ~ Secret Green Salad

Good cooler 50º morning. When I get back to finishing this blog it will be warmer! (Ok, it's now 70º)

Beautiful and clear yesterday.........nice without smoke for a change... no clouds today, but still clear.

The above taken at 9am and at 10am.

I forgot to mention that yesterday at Costco I ran into (that doesn't sound right!) Sal and Jan Esquivel. Sal is a Republican Representative for District 6, Medford, in the Oregon Legislature. Jan is past JCRW (Jackson County Republican Women) President.
This picture I took of them at one of our JCRW events...
NICEST folks you'd ever meet!!!

Then this is fun... the 'Best Kid Inventions':

Throw Back Thursday...
1988 My sister Marion and I at Dodger Stadium for the Dodgers vs Oakland A's World Series game 1..... My bro-in-law got the tickets from a friend and told Marion to "go to LA and take your sister". She was an A's fan. Me, Dodger fan. Great game. Kirk Gibson hit the winning home run and limped around the bases because of an injury. AWESOME. Got to meet him later on down the line...

More re Dodgers... my All Natural Pest Control guy was here, setting traps for digger squirrels. He is the one and only Jack Fimple who was catcher for the Dodgers from 1983 to 1987  . Such a NICE man!!!! We talked Dodgers, players, Vin Skully, Lasorda, etc. Even some football. He is a California boy, went to Humbolt State (On Hwy 101 at the coast just about opposite Redding on Hwy 5). His wife is a California girl too (Sacramento). He moved here to Oregon, "as close to California without being in California" !!! LOL  I asked him if I could take his picture. He said, "Sure." I'll get one next time. He said he'd bring me an autographed baseball card! YOWSA! (All you Dodger fans eat your heart out!)

The Italian Secret To A Long Marriage (Thanks Pberger!)
At St. Peter's Catholic Church in Adelaide, Australia, they have weekly husband's marriage seminars.
At a session last week the priest asked Giuseppe, who said he was approaching his 50th wedding anniversary, to take a few minutes and share some insight into how he had managed to stay married to the same woman all those years.
Giuseppe replied, "Well I'va tried to treat her nice, spenda da money on her, but best of all I took her to Italy for the 25th anniversary!"
The priest responded, "Giuseppe, you are an amazing inspiration to all the husbands here. Please tell us what you are planning for your wife for your  50th anniversary."
Giuseppe proudly replied, "I gonna go pick he up."

Got this from friend Judy Duvall, sis of Jim Hoffman (LASD SR ret and former Choirboy!) Judy said this was served at a 4th of July party and in her words "It's the best salad eeeehva!"

National Senior Citizens Day honors our elderly population. On this day, we are encouraged to recognize and show appreciation for the value and contribution of elderly people to home, family and society.
In his Presidential Proclamation (August 19, 1988), President Ronald Reagan said "For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute. We can best demonstrate our gratitude and esteem by making sure that our communities are good places in which to mature and grow older."
On National Senior Citizens Day, we should:
  • Spend some time with senior citizens
  • Show our appreciation for senior citizens
  • Do volunteer work in support of the elderly
If you are a senior citizen, enjoy your day any way you desire. After all, this is your day! Make sure to take advantage of senior citizens specials and discounts. There's bound to be plenty offers today.
