Cameras ~ Island Rice Pilaf ~ Pappardelle Chicken Asparagus ~ Joan ~ Certified Wildlife Habitat

Good 32º morning. Yesterday was beautiful and close to getting up there towards 70º. Supposed to hit that mark this week. Yeah! Sunshine!!! And a good thing, Maggie's water isn't frozen!!

Here is a note I got from my pal Erika... Thanks kiddo. Forgot about this!

.....CHANGE THE TIME ON YOUR CAMERAS

Speaking of cameras.... It's really hard to work on my desk....

I had picked up a bunch of pinecones and they were in the bed of my golf cart. Mr. Bruise was curious about them and sniffed each thoroughly. I think the smell of the squirrels who had been munching on the pinecones is what drew him in...

Beth has made this rice dish that is good!!! Check it out. Island Rice Pilaf...... long grain rice, black beans, coconut milk, pineapple........ (drooling)

So, going to make the above rice dish, but in the meantime my dinner was:

Mushrooms, Kirkland canned chicken, garlic, Iron Chef Orange Ginger sauce, Progresso mushroom meal starter, asparagus, tomatoes,

oil, Parmesan cheese, and pappardelle pasta...

Cut up asparagus, (I used dried mushrooms, so reconstituted them, squeezed out water .. or just cut up fresh mushrooms) and sauteéd asparagus, mushrooms, tomatoes, and grated in 4 cloves of garlic. Add chicken, mushroom starter, orange/ginger sauce, cheese. I cooked pasta in the mushroom water, drain, and add. Stir and heat.

Don't know what you'd call this, but it was GOOD!!!!

Today is a very special birthday... my friend and traveling companion, Joan Petit-Clair is celebrating today. Here is Joan in Boston on one of our cruises....

There you go..... good old Chicago politican!!! How to make your daddy proud: In 2012 federal prosecutors and FBI agents in Washington, D.C. investigated Jackson for alleged financial improprieties, including possible misuse of campaign funds. Jackson resigned from Congress on November 21, 2012, citing mental and physical health problems, including bipolar disorder, clinical depression, and gastrointestinal problems. On February 8, 2013, Jackson admitted to violating federal campaign law by using campaign funds to make personal purchases. Jackson pleaded guilty on February 20, 2013 to one count of wire and mail fraud.

Sunny afternoon so took trash out to road and then put up my sign...

My property has been designated by the Wildlife Federation as a "Certified Wildlife Habitat". Which means NO HUNTING~! LOL. Sorry guys. All those deer and elk are protected here. It also means that there is water (year round underground spring fed pond), shelter (thick trees and brush), food (grasses and berries), and places to raise young. Even Mr. Coyote is protected here along with the wild turkeys, badgers, raccoons, and the fish in the pond!

How cool is that!!!

All I know. Happy Monday. Ciao.

National Tools Day

There are few things that the male population worships more than his tools. To some, a tool is a natural extension of their arm. So, Worship of Tools Day is a logical day of celebration. And, it's definitely a guy thing. Please note however, there are more than a few ladies who love to work with their hands, and find today to be an important holiday.

Need a birthday or Christmas gift idea for one of the "boys" in the family? You're never lacking for tool ideas when you visit the local hardware store. Celebrate today by working with tools, and buying a tool or two. Receiving a tool as a gift today, makes this truly a special day. Song of the Day: If I Had a Hammer
