February 2nd

This photo is of this morning 2-2-2016... SNOW!

Quite a bit of the white stuff out there today. Mother Nature knows ahead of time. Yesterday I had 15 does and fawns on my pasture eating grass all day! They knew and had to stock up! These aren't all 15... but when all of them were near the house I didn't want to go out and scare them..
Here's the same pasture this morning...

Pux Phil says an 'early spring' this year. And surprisingly the Iowa votes put Cruz ahead of Trump. A big surprise for me. What happened with Liary Clintoon and Sanders wasn't a surprise. And onto the next bump in the road....... oh the joys of election season. YUCK!!!!

And for your information... I didn't "spread out" the sentences or the cooking ingredients the way they show up. This site has a mind of it's own. No matter how I space stuff, it does it the way it wants to! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

This is the blog I posted on this date in 2012.

Just taking another day off.

Ground Hog Day ~Santa Fe Chicken Cheese Casserole ~ Heavenly Hash

Good 29º morning. Cloudy but sun will be out. Promised! Heard geese flying over. Strange sound. First time I heard them when we had just moved here, I was in bed sleeping and started dreaming I was on a crowded freeway in Los Angeles. It was the honking of the geese!!! LOL

Then it was off to the Law Enforcement/Fire luncheon. Such a nice group of guys (yes, me being the only female!). Our LAPD moderator/commentator/founder Hector, bought me a bloody Mary. Thank you Hector! Nice we can cross those cop/deputy lines and be pals! I do recall the lack of "friendliness" when I was in a radio car in their area and would an LAPD officer wave back... Never! :o(

It was a small gathering .... probably 16-20 of us. Mostly LAPD. Most of the 'snow-birds' have left for the winter and warmer climes in their motorhomes .... most to So. Cal. But............... since Saturday is Joe Kirk's birthday... I brought him a 'Snickers cup cake' and he didn't even show up.

Oh Joe, this cupcake made me drool. And you weren't there! Guess I'll just have to eat it myself. The guys at our table volunteered!

Then to Jeannie and Bills for wine and chat. Always a good time.

Today is a special anniversary... my friends John (LASD ret) and Trish Bowler are celebrating number 49! Happy Anniversary kids!           ** now it's #53!!!

1 can (14.5 oz.) no-salt-added diced tomatoes, drained

2 green onions, sliced

1 tub (10 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Santa Fe Blend Cooking Creme, divided

3 flour tortillas (6 inch)

3/4 cup KRAFT Mexican Style Finely Shredded Four Cheese, divided

HEAT oven to 375ºF.
COMBINE first 4 ingredients in large bowl. Add 3/4 cup cooking creme; mix lightly.
SPOON 1/3 of the chicken mixture into 9-inch pie plate; top with 1 tortilla, half the remaining chicken mixture and 1/4 cup shredded cheese. Cover with second tortilla, remaining chicken mixture, 1/4 cup shredded cheese and remaining tortilla. Top with remaining cooking creme and shredded cheese; cover.
BAKE 20 min. or until heated through; uncover. Bake 5 min. or until cheese is melted.

Heavenly Hash Day
(???)
February 2 is National Heavenly Hash Day. But which heavenly hash?
If someone offers you Heavenly Hash, you may want to clarify:
Is it a fruit salad bound with sour cream or whipped cream, or a chocolate confection or baked good filled with marshmallows and nuts?

http://dennysfoodandrecipes.blogspot.com/2010/09/cake-tuesday-super-sweet-heavenly-hash.html
The fruit salad version of Heavenly Hash is a traditional Southern dish. It began as a Christmas recipe with red maraschino cherries, green grapes, pecans and other ingredients folded into whipped cream.
Over generations the recipe evolved, with everyone inventing his or her own hash (the term, after all, indicates a jumble or muddle of ingredients).
