~ Radishes & Butter ~ Fried Tamales ~ Gary's Birdhouses ~

Good 38º morning. Big difference between 27º yesterday and 38º !

Yesterday I sat here and paid bills. YUCK. I got hungry so fixed a little snack. Take your favorite bread and then spread butter on each piece and then top that with thin sliced radishes. Mmmmmm....

This is an old French snack, only they dip the radishes in butter or spread it on the radish and then sprinkle with sea salt. It's unique and you should try it!
Then I went to town and did some grocery shopping. Ran into PatC and Tim. Then to the Grower's Market in the Umpqua Bank parking lot. Met up with PJ. Gary had his birdhouses set up.... His are very original and only $20. He is at the mart every Sunday.

Apparently we had just missed seeing Nancy. She had stopped by to get a birdhouse.  Gary's houses are unique in that he used a variety of items to put them together with. Also, they all open for easy cleaning.

Armando was there with his tamales. OMG, they are GOOD! He is there every Sunday too and on Saturday at the Grower's Mart in Grants Pass and also at the Ashland Growers Mart on Tuesdays and I am not sure if he is at the Medford Armory on Thursdays. His restaurant is in Grants Pass. He told me his wife makes on average, 1500 tamales a week.

I told him my neighbor,Virginia, from Temple City, taught me how to make tamales and I would make them with the left over turkey from Thanksgiving. The tamales I got yesterday were $2.50 each, and I got three chicken and three spinach with pepper jack cheese. Also, I learned something new.... he said to fry the tamales. They are all cooked, so I thought, why not! Now that was a GREAT dinner... an artichoke and a fried tamale. I made a mixture of Greek yogurt and sour cream and taco seasoning to top the tamale.
