God Bless our Military ~ Grower's Mkt ~ Corn on the Cob

Good 55ยบ .. 86% humidity .. clear sunny morning. This slob slept in until 7:15! Holy cow. Now the day is half over.

The news of the 22 Navy Seals dying, including 8 other Americans ... 3 in the Air Force, an interpreter, a dog handler and his dog...  in that helicopter shelling and crash in Afghanistan was so devastating. God be with their families. A tragedy they will never recover from. Young and brave men. My heart breaks and I cry every time I hear about it or think about it. Damn the Taliban!

Dinner last night was 7 Oaks corn. All I wanted. Bring water to boil, add at least 1/4 cup vinegar, at least!, and it will keep the corn from ever getting mushy. Really! I also added some garlic powder and a touch of sea salt. Mix parmesan cheese with mayo and some taco seasoning with mayo, spread it on the corn. Heaven!

The Northern Hemisphere is considered to be half way through it's summer and the Southern Hemisphere is half way through it's winter on this date.

1789 – The United States War Department is established.

And births this date include....
1942 – Garrison Keillor, American writer and radio host
 Such an odd looking man!

1944 – David Rasche, American actor
Such a funny man!

1960David Duchovny, American actor
Such a good looking man!
1975 – Charlize Theron, South African actress
Pretty girl. Good actress!

Yesterday I met up with Bill and Jeannie at the Grower's Market in Grants Pass. We went through the booths, mostly produce and breads and cheeses. Awesome.
From a Korean gal, Cindy, that Bill and Jeannie know, I bought her Ginger Teriyaki. She let me try some on these teeny tiny little nori wrapped rice rolls..... YUMMMMMMMM

(Aren't these just too cute!)

Jeannie and I both agreed these earrings were fun but the bead looked like fat butt cheeks!

We even saw some yellow raspberries! I called them 'blonde'. Never saw those before. Shoudda bought some... but oh well...

Ran into Brian and Sami and Tucker. Never did see Jen. Hmmm... Where were you, sweetheart???  I did pick up some regular raspberries and blueberries for Candy. Got some carrots for me. Munch munch munch....

Stopped in at the Elks for a wine, then went to Candy and Bob's for a short visit. Nice afternoon.

This (funny, scary, and sad)  from a lovely wife (Tally) of an old high school friend (Spencer Huntoon) and retired LA Co Fire dude...

5000 years ago, Moses said to Israel, "Pick up your shovels, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land."
When Welfare was introduced, Roosevelt said, "Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, light up a Camel, this is the Promised Land."

Today, the American Government has stolen you shovel, taxed your asses, raised the price of Camels, and mortgaged the Promised Land to China.....

Happy Sunday. All I know. Nuff said. Ciao.
