Bruise the Movie ~ Motorcycle Riding in LA ~ Salad ~ Turkeys ~ HB Harley Dude

Good 44º raining raining morning. A "stay inside" day for sure!

Keep your chin up, only the first 40 years of parenthood are the hardest..

LOL, I made a movie of Bruiser laying on my desk. Sorry about the audio, don't know what that buzzing sound is...
He just takes over. When I say, "good boy" he flicks his tail!

Here is some good news for those of you who ride motorcycles on the Los Angeles area freeways.... thanks to Jim Hoffman and his sister Judy Duvall for reminding me to post this....

Motorcycles no longer need FasTrak transponders to use ExpressLanes

The ExpressLanes on the 10 freeway are scheduled to open at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, weather permitting. There is a press event Friday morning at the new El Monte Station — adjacent to the ExpressLanes — but I wanted to put the word out early that motorcycles no longer need FasTrak transponders to use the lanes; motorcycles use the lanes for free.
Those who have opened motorcycle only accounts will be notified by email and issued refunds when they return the transponder.
Why do motorcycles no longer need transponders? The toll system on the ExpressLanes is automated. A software update to the system now allows cameras to recognize standard motorcycle license plates — thus ensuring they won't receive a notice for not having a transponder.

Salad was breakfast/lunch yesterday. I cut up some cabbage, tomatoes, avocado, and steamed some broccoli for 5 min in the microwave and put on the salad warm. Topped all with Ken's Steakhouse Honey Mustard Dressing (Thanks Deb for turning me onto this dressing! OMGOOD)

The turkeys are out in full regalia for the mating season.

They always remind me of the song from West Side Story...

Sideways aka Mr.Big Stuff ~ Mr. Coyote ~ Kahlua Cake (OMG)

Good 29º dog's water frozen morning. The moon phase today is a Waning Gibbous.

Looks like as far as weather goes we will have 40% today then 50% tonight then 70% tomorrow chance of rain, dry on Friday and Saturday and rain on Sunday. Good thing, as Sami's 5th birthday party is Saturday! The Princess can't have rain on her party!

Yesterday was another 'computer' day. I installed the printer/fax, Word Perfect, Business Cards, Roxio, greeting card programs, etc.

Four years ago PJ, on her way home from a pet-sitting project, found a big black lab on the freeway off-ramp. She called me and we got him into my car. I would have kept him in a heartbeat, he was BEAUTIFUL and one of the best looking black labs I had ever seen. But, my back was a problem and I was due for back surgery so my friends Tammy and Gary in Modesto said their dog had died January 27th and they were looking for another dog to be a pal to Jaco, their chocolate lab. Perfect! I nicknamed the dog, Mr. Big Stuff.
( Click here: Mr. Big Stuff Sung by Jean Knight - YouTube ... this was sung in jest often by a ret LASD, Bobby St Clair... a very funny guy!)
Anyway I drove him to the half-way point, Redding, and met up with Tammy and Gary and gave them Mr. Big. He and Jaco are best friends, have to be touching when sleeping, play and enjoy life.

Mr. Big is now Sideways. Gary named him that because of the way he sits! LOL.

1934 – Van Williams, American actor
Williams said goodbye to Hollywood around 1970 and followed his interests into a job in the actual world of law enforcement, spending 25 years as a reserve officer with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, and also working at the San Diego Police Department and the Los Angeles Police Department. He said he formed a mountain-rescue team, taking dead and injured people out of the hills around Topanga Canyon, and worked with a partner as a plainclothes officer on Malibu Beach."We had more felony arrests than any other team," he said. But there are some mysteries relating to Williams' second career that he will not discuss, like the seven years he spent working for the federal government."I'm not supposed to talk about that," he said.

Van was in the first academy class I was in, but because of the "strict moral code" (LOL) the department had and I was "living without the benefit of clergy" with Jerry, I was dropped until we were either not living together or married! (After the wedding nups I went back)

1980 – Chelsea Clinton, daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton
UGH! She didn't even have a chance!

Yesterday I was watching a young coyote up in the pasture. I was in the house and when I coughed he heard it! What ears they have! He turned and looked in my direction~

Sky ~ The Bruise ~ Pickleball ~ Pistachios

Good 26º frozen, again, morning. Pretty clear sky today....

Last night's sunset was pretty too....

Interesting clouds coming back from Medford yesterday.... see the fish just above the mountain on the right? Looks like a shark....

Bruiser is so funny. He goes off now and hunts and then comes back every day. He's happy to be indoors and on my lap. Sunday he went way up in the pasture. I saw him and called his name. He came back to me RUNNING!

So after 'playing' with the picture I erased the fence...
How cool is that!

The annual doc appointment was good. I just love my new doctor, she is funny and cute and so knowledgeable! Left there, stopped at the market, went to Patty and Cliff's. Problem with their AOL and a search window pops up every time they log on. I looked and looked on how to get rid of it, but to no avail. The "opt out" didn't work. So, we had some wine and chatted. I'll look into that from here and see what I can come up with. Soup for dinner. Relaxing fire. Nice. Had a chat with Jeannie (she and Bill down in Casa Grande, AZ) and they learned how to play pickleball yesterday. She said they loved it and had a blast.

Funny, first played on Bainbridge Island, Wa and named after the dog, Pickles, who would retrieve the errant balls.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Tuesday. Ciao.

Deputy Funeral ~ First Date ~ Daytona ~ Oscars ~ Slow Cooker Spanish Rice ~

Good 37º raining morning. Be careful out there... full moon!

From a few days ago..
A retired deputy’s son took this video from his patrol car. The procession was more than an hour long. He was near the front of the group driving a Los Angeles County Sheriff's patrol car. Deputy MacKay was killed last week in a shootout with Christopher Dorner.

On this date 39 years ago Jerry and I went on our first date. The dinner was awesome, the date was magic, I was in love instantly! (So was he!)

Daytona was, as usual, with drama. Going that fast that close together is insane. The thing is, people go just to see the accidents! Gross. There were several of them! Congratulations to the winner, Jimmy Johnson for making it out alive!

Also big congratulations to Danica Patrick for winning the pole position and finishing in the top ten, in 8th place. Just think #9, you got beat by a GIRL! (Thank you Brian for that line!)

The Oscars... Hollyweird at it's finest. (?)

I could not believe some of the folks at the Oscars last night. Well, yes,I could. Hugh Jackman, charming. Bradley Cooper, cute. Charlize Theron, hair tooooo short.

Jennifer Aniston wow red dress. Sandra Bullock, darling as always. Some of those super poofy dresses were STUPID~!

Adele, could not understand a word she said in the interview with that bloody thick Cockney accent!! Then there was Robert De Niro and his UNCOMBED hair! What a creep.
Don't know much about him, but his wife shocked me.

Then there was Seth McFarland.... I was truly amazed, he was awesome. My favorite all time host is Billy Crystal, but Seth comes in second. He is good looking, has a killer smile, GREAT voice, and he's funnier than all get out!!! Yeah, he made the evening good.
LOVE the song, We saw your boobs" !! And then there was Ben Afflack's acceptance speech for best picture... GEEZE LOUISE! He was talking so fast and mumbling... and it was the dumbest one I have heard. Well, except for Sally Field's "you love me, you really love me" speech. Sure glad she didn't win last night. Hollyweird's "I love me show" always leaves something to be desired to me. I am not a big 'oh look movie stars' person. At least the politics were left out until, gag, the very end with that ghetto wannabe ho, Moochelle, reading the best movie winner. GAG. Oh, did I already say that. Hollyweird just can't stay away.

Historically this date....

......or as how the current President of our USofA has lied about birth and when/who/and how.

1991Gulf War: An Iraqi scud missile hits an American military barracks in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia killing 28 U.S. Army Reservists from Pennsylvania.
