Happy Birthday Kristen ~ Candy Corn Martini ~ Soapbox

10-31 (Request unit and frequency)

Good 42º cloudy morning. Happy Halloween!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my 'baby girl' Kristen!

Some "Tootie" pictures ... Her 2nd birthday (and first time trick or treating) .. 5 years old... then high school track team... then in college and a trip to Japan to teach English at Mrs. Watanabi's church during the summer ... with her 'baby girl' Alex .. and finally a Halloween with her trick or treaters, Alex and Jack (11 years ago!)

Kristen I am so Blessed to have you! I wish I could be there to celebrate with you!    Next year!

Acronym for the day....

Sigh.... yesterday my Patriots lost to the Steelers 17-23. Made me sad with all that is griping on me as of late. Just didn't need one more thing! Ratz.

Do you realize the cost of peanut butter is going up 40% !!! What are mothers going to do?? Outrageous. Well, I guess with the drought in the South it killed off the peanut crops. Sad. The peanuts went from $450 a ton in 2010 to $1200 a ton this June. The "average" kid eats 1500 peanut butter jelly sandwiches before he/she graduates from high school!

You know how there are commercials on TV that really grate on your soul... one that won't go away is the Progressive Insurance one with that black haired bimbo with the blood red lipstick.

I'd like to smear that lipstick all over her goofy face! And, at least the Sally Field commercial for osteoporosis is off the air! Thank goodness! Talk about irritating!

Then tonight on Two and A Half Men....apparently Kutcher

(gag) sleeps with Alan's mom

(double gag).

And all the while the big fat ugly rude housekeeper

is making comments re Kutcher's manhood and staring at him... Come on people. Who is writing this junk????? I refuse to watch the show since the first one of the season had Kutcher running around naked. Pure unadulterated sleaze.

Ok, off the soapbox!

Rain started in ernest last night about 8:30. Was still raining at 11pm. We got, according to my trusty little digital weather station, 9/100ths of an inch. It's a start!

Yesterday I made that candy corn martini...
The infusion of the candy corn and the vodka started 3 hours prior. Then the candy corn was strained out. The vodka was mixed with triple sec, lemon juice, and egg white. Shaken vigorously for 30 seconds and deposited into an icy cold glass.....

I had 4 sips. It was soooooo sickening sweet I dumped it out! You know that was a stretch for me, since my adventurous spirit is heavily into food and drink! I mean, I liked the bacon infused vodka! So, now the remaining vodka is being infused with red pepper flakes and black peppercorns in hopes to revive it to a sweet/hot drink.... We'll see...

Clouds ~ Clean Fridge ! ~ East Coast Storm ~ Candy Corn Cocktail?

10-30 "Transmission does not conform to regulations"
LOL, that's why Voors was called "10-30 Dude" ... yet to this day!~ (Love ya, Steve!)
Good 44º morning. Cloudy. Not cloudy. Pressure up. Pressure down. 20% chance of rain today and tonight.

I had a note from my friend Joan, down in Palm Desert. Her daughter, Patty, and family live in New Jersey where the storm has hit so bad. They have a tree down, but it didn't hit anything serious. Amanda, her granddaughter, said trees are falling everywhere. The leaves hadn't dropped and the snow made them too heavy. One fell in front of the car in front of them driving home last night! Fortunately no injuries! The center of the storm is in NJ with 15" of snow and power is out to 2.3 million people. Patty said the power will probably stay off until Wednesday. UGH. Joan said Patty has a commercial size freezer in the basement and she may be tossing a lot of food! Sad. She does have a gas stove, so she could be busy cooking up a storm!

Yesterday ... oh, yesterday. I wasn't feeling the best. Several things were grating on my mind, the tummy wasn't happy, I HAD to clean out the fridge as it was a science project in there and the danged thing was making awful noises, and then I spilled pepper all over my kitchen! Grrrrrr.... I vented at Jeannie via email. She called me back and made me laugh. That made the rest of the day better! Good to have friends. I did get my refrigerator cleaned out! A task for me. I hate doing it and I cram it full. What a relief to be able to see the back of it on each shelf!
I laugh every time I think of what my nephew, Jim, called me... "the condiment queen". Today it's the freezer! AND, a good thing, the fridge has quit all those horrible noises. Well, maybe, it also might mean it's going to die! I have been looking at new ones on line from Sears. Just in case.

I finally watched the Extreme Home Makeover, aired Friday, a 2 hour segment filmed in Southern Oregon.... Jacksonville and Medford. They even took a jet boat ride and showed our Rogue River bridge! It was a wonderful show ... a family of 5 with 2 of their boys having autism. I cried almost from the beginning. Ty Pennington said some great things about our home here... he said, "Southern Oregon is one of the most beautiful places we've been" and "We've had the best time here!"

At noon there was still some of the controlled burn smoke..
After taking the trash to the road, Maggs and I stopped to view the changing sky over our house...
By 5:30pm it was getting interesting....

And the smoke continues....
