Freezing ~ Maxwell's Bar ~ Old Age ~ Bruiser ~ Filet & Veggie Cakes ~ Corn Chip Day

Good 26º everything frozen and foggy morning...

LOL.... watching Chicago PD last night and they made an arrest in "my bar" !!

Old age....
    (thanks Ike!!)
Bruiser likes to tear up his "box bed" sometimes... Usually he naps inside the box on the soft packing, but he wanted to try something different....

Later for dinner I fixed a filet in the Air Fryer and some of Costco's Veggie Cakes that I heated in the oven...

(gluten free and all the ingredients listed here: http://www.gardenlites.com/club/superfood-veggie-cakes ... on their site there is a store locator for your area) These are sooooo good.
I served them atop fresh baby spinach with a drizzle of olive oil... and some garlic mayo on the veggie cakes....
   OMGOOOOOD!!!

Historically this date...
1863 – Arizona is organized as a United States territory.

My aunt was born in 1907 in Cananea Mexico when my grandfather was working down there as a mining engineer. Later she could have said she was born in Arizona, since it was a Territory and they didn't start keeping birth records until 1912. But, she was honest and became a 'naturalized citizen' in later years, but did grow up in Arizona in Bisbee. My grandparents were still Scottish citizens, not American. He was a mining engineer for the Lavender Pitt copper mine in Bisbee after Pancho Villa's men told them they had to leave Mexico since they weren't citizens of Mexico.

1942 – The Battle of Los Angeles, one of the largest documented UFO sightings in history; the event lasted into the early hours of February 26, 1942. Interesting.

1968 – Vietnam War: The Tet Offensive is halted; South Vietnam recaptures Hué.

1980 – The United States Olympic Hockey team completes their Miracle on Ice by defeating Finland 4-2 to win the gold medal.

1989 – United Airlines Flight 811, bound for New Zealand from Honolulu, Hawaii, rips open during flight, sucking 9 passengers out of the business-class section.

Yesterday stayed cold gloomy all morning, then the sun came out a bit..

As I have said Dude loves laying in the sun on the porch. When the sun would go behind the clouds (and the temps never got over 46º) he'd stand at the door. When the sun came back out, he wanted outside again. In and out, in and out, in and out.... call him "hamburger" !!!

I worked on my taxes. So exciting. Couldn't wait for "wine time" !!!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy TGIF. Ciao.

National Corn Chip Day

Today is a holiday with a crunch. One might even suggest that it is a corny holiday. Well, that's okay because today is National Tortilla Chip Day. Just a few decades ago, Americans seldom ate Corn Chips and Salsa. It's popularity has grown immensely. Today is a tribute to that rising popularity of one of America's favorite munchies.
Did you know? The corn chip recipe was brought to the U.S. from Mexico by texas businessman Elmer Doolin.
(here is an interesting article about Doolin..... https://tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/fdo73 )
Celebrate National Tortilla Chip Day with a handful of crunchy, tasty corn chips and your favorite salsa or dip.
