Sun ~ Earthquake ~ Plumber ~ Corned Beef ~ Oatmeal Cookies

Good 27º burrrrrr it's cold morning. Supposed to stay sunny and warm to the high 60ºs for the next few days. Yesterday was a beautiful St. Patrick's Day... sunny and green!

Thanks Cathy for the head's up on this:
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 4.4-magnitude earthquake shook Southern California Monday morning.
The tremor struck at 6:25 a.m. and was “epicentered in the Santa Monica Mountains between Westwood and Encino, closer to the Valley side, about five miles below the surface,” Dr. Lucy Jones of the U.S. Geological Survey said.
Residents felt the quake in Los Angeles, Ventura, San Bernardino and Orange counties.
Had a call from Mike at Artoff plumbing. He came out to repair the "temporary" fix on the pipe under the porch that cracked in January. I am going to have to do the burn pile and need water close by for that.He and his assistant Brody got the pipe repaired with one that will expand and not crack under those freezing conditions.

Yesterday morning I started my corned beef. Leeks, carrots, garlic were the first ingredients in the crockpot. Next came the corned beef round, topped with brown sugar, and the Guinness was poured around. Another can with water was added, since there were so many items in the crockpot. Set it on "high" for 10 hours. After about 3 hours, I added in whole mushrooms and turned it to low. About 2 hours before being done I added in some cabbage wedges.

I served up my plate and toped the corned beef with Jack Daniel's Horseradish Mustard...

OMGOOD!!!!!
