Rain/Snow ~ Bruiser ~ Bernie's Journey ~ Steak/Potato/TV ~ Blonde Brownies

Good 36ยบ drizzling morning. Since this storm started on the 18th we've gotten 2½ inches. Yesterday we actually got 5 minutes of sun!

This is what it's looked like most of the time....

And this morning the snow is gone from down here and there is snow on top of my mountain!!!

My pal in La Crescenta said Friday they got 2¼" of rain down there. Wow!!!!

It seemed to pour here all day. Even Bruiser was tired of staying in, so looked like he took a walk down to neighbors Frank and Cindy's. He came back SOAKED!!! Then it was time just to "watch" the rain...

Friend Bernie Kammer (LASD ret) wrote a fascinating story of his journey from being born in Germany in 1943, escaping the war zone and becoming a refugee to retiring from our department. Just an amazing story, and if you are interested in reading it, let me know. I sent it to my pal Erika who was born in Germany in 1940 and came to the USA in 1953.

Blonde Brownie Day

Blonde Brownie Day is a special day that is set aside to bake and eat blonde brownies.
What's a blonde brownie, you ask? Well, as their name implies, traditional brownies are a dark brown. To make blonde brownies, light brown sugar is used in the recipe in place of dark brown chocolate.
On Blonde Brownie Day, its your right and responsibility to bake blonde brownies, and to eat them. If you don't have time to bake today, buy some and eat a few extra blonde brownies.

Note: The use of nuts and frosting on your brownies is optional.
