Rain ~ Housework ~ Leak ~ Algebra ~ Jim Forbus ~ Dogs Decorating ~ NFL Thursday ~ Vegetables/Rice ~ Car Sticker ~ Pfeffernusse

Good 35ยบ raining Christmas Eve Eve morning. Rain started around 10pm and so far we've gotten an inch. Large swath of rain coming down on the west coast...

Yesterday the excitement overflowed. I did laundry
,
changed the bed
,
vacuumed and mopped
.
Zowie!  Of course the best part was a leak with my washing machine. Water all over the back porch and back bathroom. SHOOT!!! Sigh.... maybe I can get someone over here to see what the problem is. I think it might be the drain pipe. So, that was a fun cleanup! Not.

I got an email from friend George Bachmeier (LASD ret) with a lot of funny stuff.... this was one of them:
Reminds me of high school. I was lousy at math and had to take Algebra twice, got D's both times! So, the above is my mantra!

Today a super special birthday.... one of Jerry's and my "sons", Jim Forbus (Jerry nicknamed him "The Busses") is celebrating. Jimmy and his bride, Dawn, live in Nevada. He was with our Sheriff's Dept for a time and then went to work for and retired from Washoe County Sheriff's Dept. as a Lt.

He and Dawn now work with Honor Flight (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_Flight) helping veterans...
                                              HAPPY BIRTHDAY JIMMY!!!!! xoxoxo

The NFL scores from last night:
                                                 YEAH~!
Dinner, another experiment...

I was really in the mood for vegetables, so I cooked some Basmati Rice Medly in the rice cooker (2 cups rice..4 cups water..Lawry's Garlic Salt, and a drizzle of olive oil)

I put the broccoli/cauliflower mixture in the Crock Pot, added in the carrots and celery.

I soaked the Shiitake-Ya mushroom blend (Porcini,Morels,Brazilian,Ivory Portabellas, Shiitake, and Oyster mushrooms) in hot water til soft, squeezed out the moisture, and added them. Added in the leftover roasted buttery mushrooms (after eating a few of them!)

and the rice blend (Trader Joe's Basmati Rice Medley... aged Indian Basmati Rice, Wild Rice, and veggies and herbs) topped with a few pats of butter....

I added in 1/2 carton of Organic Chicken Stock and put on low for an hour and then "warm" for 3 hours. Then I topped it with grated Parmesan cheese until I was ready to eat it...

Next I heated some of my Honeybaked Ham in the Power Air Fryer.....(http://www.powerairfryer.com/)
                                      OMGOOOOOD!!!!! Excellent!!!!

If you are interested in the dried mushroom blend, I order it here:
That huge tall container of them is 8oz.

Saw this in the Safeway parking lot the other day... LOL!

Of course he/she probably doesn't know this, but the last 3 numbers of the licence plate, 390, is one of our radio codes for "drunk". (giggle)

All I know. Nuff said. Happy TGIF. Ciao.
