~ Bisbee and Tombstone ~ Squirrel? ~ Brandy Alexander ~

Good 34º foggy morning.
Wow, the last day of January.

85 years ago today Leslie and Margaret
eloped from Bisbee Arizona

to Tombstone Arizona

and were married.
19 years later Susan Leslie was born. Taaa daaa.....
(the picture is the court house where they got their
marriage license)

Not much to say about yesterday... I had that ADHD thing going on... cleaned out one cupboard, oh look... here's something in this one that needs to be tossed out... oh wait, here in my bedroom I need to clean out this closet.... but wait, there's a squirrel! Sigh. I did get quite a bit done and more for the Goodwill.

We didn't really get any sun yesterday.
Looked like this at noon....

And they by 5pm we had a semi-pretty sunset....

Dinner, a fire, TV.

The Pro Bowl was strange to say the least. The NFC defeated the AFC 55-41. Gotta say, the AFC gave it an awesome try to come back from 41-zip.

~ Rain! ~ Woodpeckers ~ Baron ~ Inane Answering Machine Messages

Good 39º morning. Rained last night. About 1/5". Started around 8pm. Can you believe it, tomorrow is the LAST day of January!!! Gaaaaaaaaaaaaa..............

First my mountain was visible....

Then it disappeared .....

Now it's somewhat back......

And the red-headed kids were out there....

Yesterday I headed to Grants Pass to visit with Bob and Candy. I stopped at Ace to pick up some fire starter and saw they had back scratchers. I picked up one for Bob. His surgery was on his right shoulder, so it makes it difficult to do many things. I think he really enjoyed the back scratcher!

Before I got to their house I stopped at the drive-thru carwash. My truck was a mud ball!

Ahhhhh.... mucho better!

We sat and visited for a couple of hours and had wine.... I really enjoyed our chat! Several LASD stories, which are always fun. I LOVE their dog, a Brittany Spaniel, Baron. He is a sweetheart!

He loves chasing that ball!
He even climbed up and snoozed
on my lap! Awwww.... he liked me!

The view from their hilltop house is really spectacular....

Came home and it was already dark and I hadn't stacked any wood on the porch, so Maggie and I, me with a big light, filled the wheelbarrow with wood and stacked it on the porch. We had a great fire, reruns of the butternut pasta for dinner, and watched some TV and snoozed in my chair. Today is pay bills day and organize tax stuff. Groan.................... (Oh, and Candy, I'll send you the picture of Bob and Baron, came out darling! and the recipes for onion soup.)

Historically this date....
1835 – In the first assassination attempt against a President of the United States, Richard Lawrence attempts to shoot president Andrew Jackson, but fails and is subdued by a crowd, including several congressmen.
1847 – Yerba Buena, California is renamed San Francisco.
... a wise decision, since "yerba buena" means "good grass"... I think they
smoke enough of that stuff in SF, but to have it named that.......    !
1969The Beatles' last public performance, on the roof of Apple Records in London. The impromptu concert is broken up by the police.
1971Carole King's Tapestry album is released, it would become the longest charting album by a female solo artist and sell 24 million copies worldwide.
1994 - my mother Margaret Laney passed away from the ravages of Alzheimers.
Sooooooo many things I'd like to tell her and show her. I miss her so much.

~ Rain? ~ Geezer ~ Get Shorty ~ Fritos!

Good 38º soon to be raining morning.
Pressure is going down down down....

Yesterday I puttered around and cleaned, etc. I took the pumpkin
and peeled it, cut in to chunks, and put in the Cuizzzzzz... and pureéd it
and bagged in zip freezer bags for later use.

Looks like about 10 cups after I drained it.

Maggie and I went into town. To the post office to mail off
more old pictures I had found of friends and their children
.... taken way back maybe 25 years ago....

So, standing in line
and this old geezer behind me (told me he was 80) noticed my
Patriots jacket and made the stupid
statement, "I HATE the Patriots!" "And just what did they ever do
to you?" "I just hate them." "Is there anyone you DO like?"
"I was a Charger fan when I lived in San Diego and then I became
a Raiders fan." "Hmmmm..." "You know all of my family and friends like different teams, but none of us HATE another team." (In fact my friend Suz, a Bears fan, said if I ever go to Foxborough she'd go with me and
be a Patriots fan for a day! Great, huh!) So this geezer is going on and on
and I interrupt him saying, "All the teams are good, I don't dislike the
Raiders, it's their fans I don't like!" He was quiet and then I said, "All the
stupid gang bangers wear Raiders shirts/hats, etc." He said, "I wear my
Raiders shirt to church sometimes." I laughed and patted him on the
shoulder and said, "At least God loves you!" Then as I was walking out
of the PO he turned and said (His second stupid
statement!) "Tom Brady would be a better quarterback if he'd bring all
his illegitimate children to the games." I didn't even reply. There were 6 other men in line and they all looked at me, rolled their eyes, and one of them said, "He is a weirdo!"  Sigh.....

The sunset had nothing to shout about....

Well, there were two things I liked....

....

and Mr. Hummer that kept buzzing around my head and finally landed
in the tree..

He was pretty fuzzy behind that branch.

We had reruns for dinner and had a roaring fire. I watched some Tivo'd shows and then the movie, "Get Shorty", 1995. A mobster/loan shark, who goes to Hollywood and discovers the movie
industry is much like his current job. It stars....

I cannot STAND Dennis Farina! What a putz. Reminds me of someone
I know. Anyway, there was a line in the movie that made me laugh and think of my friend, Lydia.... "What kind of writing pays the best? ... Ransom notes."

As we await the rain I'm going to do some laundry and mop. Oh yeah!
Have a wonderful Saturday.

Nuff said. Ciao.
