Frozen ~ Woodpeckers ~ Goose ~ Mallards ~ Lions ~ LA Snow ~ Cliff & Patty ~ Pat Tracy ~ Baked Avocado Fries ~ Peanut Butter Pound Cake!

Good 28º frozen low cloudy morning.

The whole woodpecker family was out munching on cracked corn...

.... and Mr. Gander was on the frozen barn roof ...

Yesterday when I went out to feed the geese along came Mr. & Mrs. Mallard. Didn't get a good picture of them as the sun was shining right in my face! This was the first time I have seen them this year.

Hey dad, whatcha doin'?

After email chatting with my friend Vivia in Brooklyn NY and about the snow in LA in 1949 I found this LA Times story about it...

Here is a KCET article about the snow and flooding in So. Cal starting in the 1800's....

Yesterday was a worry, as Patty's Cliff was in the hospital with some internal organ problems. Patty took him in Monday night. Fortunately the docs figured it out and he came home yesterday late afternoon.
Today is their 64th Wedding Anniversary. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY KIDS. Feel well soon Cliffie!!!!

Pound Cake Day

Check this recipe:
Peanut Butter Pound Cake
1¼ cups butter
2 cups granulated sugar
6 eggs
½ cup creamy peanut butter
2 cups all purpose flour
¼ cup finely chopped roasted peanuts
Preheat oven to 350º.
Cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Blend in the peanut butter, then the flour. Pour the batter into 2 lightly greased loaf pans and place in oven.
After 15 minutes of baking, sprinkle the chopped onto the batter to create a crunchy topping.
Bake a total of 50-60 minutes, or until centers test done with a toothpick or cake tester.

I am going to make this in a Bundt pan! Mmmmm and whipped cream on top of each piece!!!
