Drizzle ~ Tulips ~ White House ~ Schwans ~ All Natural Pest ~ Southern Style Strawberry Bread ~ Dog Bites ~ Bobby Sherman ~ National Pet Day

Good 38º cloudy morning.

Yesterday was drizzly and cool, stayed in the 50ºs most of the day and windy, but we ended up warming to 60º.

My tulips are blooming now... in a bed that will soon be California Poppies!

What is your house worth? How about the White House?

Obviously, the White House will never be for sale, and there are no true comparables for this historic structure. However according to Zillow, the White House Zestimate is $397,817,836. Home to every American president except George Washington, the White House is rich in history and tradition. The complex sits on 18 meticulously landscaped acres, and includes: six stories and 55,000 square feet of floor space, 132 rooms and 35 bathrooms, 28 fireplaces, 8 staircases, 3 elevators, a tennis court, a (single-lane) bowling alley, a movie theater, a jogging track, a putting green, and a swimming pool.

Yesterday I got my Schwans delivery.....
I always talk about how good their egg rolls are so Jennifer asked me to order her some. Unfortunately they are such a popular item, they were back ordered. Dang.

I also ordered for me the Chicken Alfredo Skillet Meal
the Asian-Style Stir-Fry

This perfect stir-fry blend features all Grade A broccoli, carrots, snap peas, red peppers, and water chestnuts. Add either water or oil and desired amount of the seasoning packet included to make your own delicious Asian style sauce. This low sodium and heart healthy option makes a perfect snack or side to any meal.

and the Shrimp Broccoli Alfredo Skillet Meal
Those are SOOOOOOOOO good!

The All Natural Pest Control guy, James, was here to renew my options for their services.  James is super nice and we always have a great time chatting. He sets up accounts for the company and then AJ came out and refilled the bait tubes.

In a jam for an easy and great-tasting homemade bread? Southern-style Strawberry Bread comes to the rescue...and with frozen strawberries baked right in, you can make it any time of year!
  • 1 (20-ounce) package frozen strawberries, thawed and mashed
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 cups self-rising flour, divided
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Coat two 9- x 5-inch loaf pans with cooking spray.

  2. In a large bowl, with an electric beater on low speed, beat strawberries, sugar, oil, and eggs until well mixed. Add 2-1/2 cups flour and continue beating until well combined.

  3. In a small bowl, toss pecans with remaining 1/2 cup flour then stir into strawberry mixture (see Note). Pour into prepared loaf pans.

  4. Bake 55 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool slightly then remove to wire racks to cool completely.

**
Mixing the pecans with the flour keeps the pecans from floating in the batter so they don't fall to the bottom of the bread when baking.

This bread is good when smeared with cream cheese, strawberry cream cheese is awesome!

According to "Canine Journal," people in the United States experience about 4.5 million dog bites each year, on average. Of those bitten, more reported the bite from chihuahuas than any other breed.

Of the reported dog bites, fully 81 percent caused no injury or resulted in minor injuries that required no medical attention. There were approximately 78 million dogs in the United States in 2016. Most of the dogs involved in attacks on people were not spayed or neutered. In 2014, the American insurance industry reported payouts of over $530 million in claims related to dog bites. April 11 is National Pet Day.  While loving our pets is something we do every day, National Pet Day encourages us to pay special attention to pets who may not get that extra attention.  Helping out orphaned pet companions will improve their health and improve their opportunities for adoption.
Sometimes their human companions aren’t well.  Making sure their forever furry friends are receiving the best of care will help relieve stress and worry.
HOW TO OBSERVE
Take supplies to those pets in shelters.  Help a friend with pets who is recovering from an illness.  Adopt a pet.
HISTORY
Founded by Celebrity Pet Lifestyle Expert & Animal Welfare Advocate Colleen Paige in 2005 and sponsored by the Animal Miracle Foundation & Network, more information on National Pet Day can be found at www.pedayusa.com.
