Day 6 ~ Deer ~ Snow Falling on Your House ~ Rescued Turkey ~ Crazy Bruise ~ Grilled Cheese Special

Good 32º (heat wave!) morning.   Day#6 no water. No sun until 1:30 yesterday. Nothing warmed up. The sun we got was sparse due to cloud cover. Until yesterday the sun would come streaming in the south side of the house and warm it all up. Depressing.

(This was on Joan Knoeppel's FB page! Go Joan!)

Out 'frolicking' in the snow yesterday were several deer... this little buck and fawn.... couldn't get all of them in the picture as they saw me in the dining room window and got panicky...

OMG, you will love this... came from my friend Cyndi Moreno...hubby Pete worked with my Jerry at Temple...

Type in your address or any address and see what it looks like with snow falling...

I put in the address where I grew up..Stockbridge Avenue in Los Angeles, the house has changed a LOT... Here it is a hundred years ago...actually in 1944 just before I was born..

The new owners put on a second story... but here it is with the snow...

Yesterday I had to save a turkey. I had seen him in the pasture earlier in the day on Wednesday and he, like most of them, couldn't figure how to get over the fence.
Turkeys do have the smallest brain. They forget they can fly! Anyway, I was hoping he'd figure it out. Well, yesterday morning he was still out there trying to get his head through the fence. Sigh... So I opened the gate in the front yard and tossed out some cracked corn to attract him... left the gate open and came in. He found the corn and ate it all! Then about 30 minutes later I saw him walking through the front yard. There were two other turkeys out there. I went out to open the gate to the driveway, the other turkeys flew over the fence (duh...get the idea mr. turkey?) but he didn't so I propped open the gate, came back in the house and he walked out! YEAH!!!

The Bruise was also out running around and walking on the fence...I called him and he came running...
Then... he comes in and jumps onto the hutch to take a nap!

1989Taylor Swift, American singer
One of the few country singers I don't like! Hate her makeup!

I had been talking to Jeannie about what there was in the fridge to eat... had a couple hard boiled eggs, etc. She suggested (although she'd never tried it) making a grilled cheese and putting in the hard boiled egg. So, ok  then...

I took Ashland Sourdough bread, topped with 1 slice of Provolone, 3 slices of American cheese and then cut the egg into slices, added one more Provolone slice. Melt some butter and a bit of olive oil in pan, spray I Can't Believe It's Not Butter on the bread and cook until all melty and browned.
Then, since I am a Best Foods Mayonnaise NUT (and can just eat it by the spoonful!), I slathered on some mayo. Cut up a tomato, and voilá....
One of THE BEST sandwiches EVER!!!!!

All I know. Happy TGIF. Nuff said. Ciao.

December 13th
National Cocoa Day

What does this holiday celebrate?
This holiday celebrates all the uses of "Cocoa" but most information about this holiday relates it to the hot cocoa drink. So on National Cocoa Day make good use of that container of dry cocoa in your cabinet and make yourself a nice hot cup of homemade cocoa. I can just taste it now... that nice warm feeling of the drink, that nice thick layer of cream on top and that nice dust of cocoa on the top of the cream. Yummmm, pure heaven!
