Patty R ~ Gary H ~ Barney ~ Bruiser ~ GloW & John

Good 47º cloudy morning.

Yesterday was beautiful!

Two birthdays today... my friend Patty Rodriguez who worked ELA Station. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PATTY!!!
Here she is when she worked patrol.. cutie!!

And today is also Gary Hyman's birthday. Gary adopted the big black lab PJ found on the freeway off ramp and Janie Alden and I took him (Mr. Big Stuff) to Gary and Tammy who met us in Redding. He became "Sideways" and is best friends with their chocolate lab Jaco. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GARY!!!

Historically this date
1777 – Lancaster, Pennsylvania is the capital of the United States, for one day.

1821 – Mexico gains its independence from Spain.

.... see... Mexican Independence Day! The war started on the 16th of Sept and ended on the 27th. Just fyi if you have any comments, read the text first. Beyond me why the 16th is celebrated...I guess because a beginning is important too.

1822 – Jean-François Champollion announces that he has deciphered the Rosetta stone.
....interesting read...

1942 – Last day of the September Matanikau action on Guadalcanal as United States Marine Corps troops barely escape after being surrounded by Japanese forces near theMatanikau River.

1995 – The Government of the United States unveils the first of its redesigned bank notes with the $100 bill featuring a larger portrait of Benjamin Franklin slightly off-center.

And births this date include...
1920 – William Conrad, American actor (d. 1994)

1920 – Jayne Meadows, American actress
  .........I just don't get those HUGE glasses~!

1934 – Wilford Brimley, American actor
Me thinks he needs a moustache trim! YUCK!

1958 – Shaun Cassidy, American singer

1972 – Gwyneth Paltrow, American actress
....she named her children Apple and Moses!
(Oh look, Jennifer Aniston hair!)

My friend Suzanne Santisteven (Suz worked at Lakewood when I was there and she's married to ret. LASD Sgt Phil) had this funny cat... Barney.... So cute! Hiding in the leaves.

For my birthday at the beginning of the month, Jeannie threw a girl's party and gave me these balloons (actually she said they were from Bill) and so I brought them home and still have them. This is what they are looking like after a month... I put them on the floor so Bruiser could play with them. He loves batting them around!

Speaking of the Bruise... he napped on top of my computer

For lunch yesterday I met up with GloW and John at Taprock on the Rogue River. Coming out of the door was Josephine Co Sheriff, Gil Gilbertson. Got a hug!
He asked if I was going to buy him lunch. I said, "Sure!" and he laughed and said he already had lunch. Looked like he was there for some kind of meeting. He's up for re-election in Nov.

We had lunch out on the deck.

I had a grilled veggie sandwich with zucchini, mushrooms, peppers, onion, tomatoes, avocado and Swiss cheese on garlic-grilled focaccia bread and house-made aioli. YUMMMMM!!!

They are heading out and back to Washington state. They couldn't find a mobile home park here and didn't like the hot summer, so going back to the cooler weather and more rain. You guys will be missed!!!

All I know.Nuff said. Happy Saturday. Ciao.
