Rain/Snow ~ Chicken Surprise ~ Olive Tepenade ~ RIP Don Dunlop ~ Popcorn Day

Good 41ยบ raining pouring morning. So far since yesterday looks as if we got 1 3/4" rain. More on the coast and in some other areas, but that's a lot for us in a 24 hour period.

On my blog last January 18th I have pictures of our Rogue River over the banks. Lots and lots of rain. This year, hardly any so far! But we're workin' on it!

Yesterday our summit was socked in... no travel....

And today......................

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is funny..... my friend Dee Yellin sent this after I posted that yesterday was Peking Duck Day....
CHICKEN SURPRISE
A couple goes for a meal at a Chinese restaurant and orders Chicken Surprise. The waiter brings the meal, served in a lidded cast iron pot. Just as the wife is about to serve herself, the lid of the pot rises slightly and she briefly sees two beady little eyes looking around before the lid slams back down. "Good grief, did you see that?", she asks her husband. He hadn't , so she asks him to look in the pot. He reaches for it and again the lid rises, and he sees two little eyes looking around before it slams down. Rather perturbed, he calls the waiter over, explains what is happening, and demands an explanation. "Please sir", says the waiter, "What you order?". The husband replies, "Chicken Surprise".
"Ah! So sorry", says the waiter. "I bring
you Peeking Duck"!
So, you shop at Whole Foods for their "organic" products? Silly you................
My former mother-in-law (Kristen's and Brian's "Nana") Evelyn Pendleton died on this date in 1999. As it turns out it was her husband, ("Papa") George's birthday. Fortunately for Papa he had already blazed the trail to Heaven before Nana so he wasn't sad on his birthday!
The world lost another one of the good guys. Deputy Don Dunlop passed away early today. He was a friend, a fellow Deputy, a mentor to a lot, a super guy! RIP Don!!! I know Jerry and Captain Jack and Deputy Billy are there in Heaven to show you the ropes, share stories, and let you know how much you were cared about. Love and hugs to Bonnie. Donnie and Bonnie.. ♥ ♥.. shared a great love.
Today is also the wedding anniversary of Sandy's baby sister (lol) Babette and her husband Jim. Happy 26th Anniversary kids!
You can now click on the links from Wikipedia today. If there were links yesterday that you needed to view, you can go back... (BTW, I did my blogs and gathered Wiki info on Tuesday!)
Top with melted butter or spray on I Can't Believe It's Not Butter ... then add 1. Grated yellow cheese and bacon bits or crumbled bacon 2. Grated Parmesan cheese 3. Taco Seasoning and grated cheese 4. Chopped jalapeno chilies (drained and dried with paper towels) and grated mozzarella cheese .... if you like Curry or Cyanne add that or sprinkle on Bob's Seasoning Salt or Lawry's Seasoned Salt. Sprinkle on Old Bay (Garlic and Herb) or cinnamon or dill. Add mini chocolate chips and/or flaked coconut. Add peanuts and M&M's. Mix a little wasabe powder with the butter. EXPERIMENT~
