~ Rain! ~ Woodpeckers ~ Baron ~ Inane Answering Machine Messages

Good 39º morning. Rained last night. About 1/5". Started around 8pm. Can you believe it, tomorrow is the LAST day of January!!! Gaaaaaaaaaaaaa..............

First my mountain was visible....

Then it disappeared .....

Now it's somewhat back......

And the red-headed kids were out there....

Yesterday I headed to Grants Pass to visit with Bob and Candy. I stopped at Ace to pick up some fire starter and saw they had back scratchers. I picked up one for Bob. His surgery was on his right shoulder, so it makes it difficult to do many things. I think he really enjoyed the back scratcher!

Before I got to their house I stopped at the drive-thru carwash. My truck was a mud ball!

Ahhhhh.... mucho better!

We sat and visited for a couple of hours and had wine.... I really enjoyed our chat! Several LASD stories, which are always fun. I LOVE their dog, a Brittany Spaniel, Baron. He is a sweetheart!

He loves chasing that ball!
He even climbed up and snoozed
on my lap! Awwww.... he liked me!

The view from their hilltop house is really spectacular....

Came home and it was already dark and I hadn't stacked any wood on the porch, so Maggie and I, me with a big light, filled the wheelbarrow with wood and stacked it on the porch. We had a great fire, reruns of the butternut pasta for dinner, and watched some TV and snoozed in my chair. Today is pay bills day and organize tax stuff. Groan.................... (Oh, and Candy, I'll send you the picture of Bob and Baron, came out darling! and the recipes for onion soup.)

Historically this date....
1835 – In the first assassination attempt against a President of the United States, Richard Lawrence attempts to shoot president Andrew Jackson, but fails and is subdued by a crowd, including several congressmen.
1847 – Yerba Buena, California is renamed San Francisco.
... a wise decision, since "yerba buena" means "good grass"... I think they
smoke enough of that stuff in SF, but to have it named that.......    !
1969The Beatles' last public performance, on the roof of Apple Records in London. The impromptu concert is broken up by the police.
1971Carole King's Tapestry album is released, it would become the longest charting album by a female solo artist and sell 24 million copies worldwide.
1994 - my mother Margaret Laney passed away from the ravages of Alzheimers.
Sooooooo many things I'd like to tell her and show her. I miss her so much.

And births this date include.....
1914John Ireland, Canadian actor (d. 1992)

1914 – David Wayne, American actor (d. 1995)

1922Dick Martin, American comedian (d. 2008)

1925 – Dorothy Malone, American actress

 (Whoa!)

1930 – Gene Hackman, American actor

   "Popeye Doyle"!!

1937 – Vanessa Redgrave, English actress

1941 – Dick Cheney, American politician, 7th White House Chief of Staff, Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Wyoming, 17th United States Secretary of Defense and 46th Vice President of the United States

1962 – Mary Kay Letourneau, American convicted statutory rapist
... remember that fiasco.... and read what she is doing now!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Sunday!

LOL LOL Sue, I am laughing out loud at the answering machine message! LOL Good one!

I was looking at the photos of Mary Kay L and wondering if she had to have an affair and fall in love with a kid, why wasn't he a handsome one? That gal was obsessed with this boy! Their story is unbelievable! So now they are married with kids. Her father was a well known "R". That had to be embarrassing for him!

Not surprise that someone tried to kill Andrew Jackson. Last night I was reading in Pinheads and Patriots that he was really a pinhead and hated! Especially hated by the American Indians! To this day many of them won't carry a $20 bill because they detest him and don't want to see his face! Interesting, huh?

Have a good day and I guess you will be watching the Pro Bowl game? We will.

Hugs, Trisha

Hi T, interesting about Jackson! Never heard that. Mary Kay is a seriously demented person and that kid she married must be too. She gave up her first 4 children. Can't imagine that.As for the Pro-Bowl, I will probably have it on but won't sit and watch. Like to have a team to root for, not a league! xo

Anyone who doesn't want to carry a bill with Andrew Jackson's face is welcome to send them to me. I promise not to keep them long ):- will put them to patriotic use in exchange them for goods made in America.

On the molester/teacher. If love is strange- obsession is just plain weird. The political affiliation of the parent is irrelevant other than to those wanting to make a mockery of the values message Rupulbians vaunt.

Your rain is about to visit. ETA- 20 minutes.

Hi Sue: You sure got rain, and looks like gobs of fog
too. I have never seen pictures of inside a car wash...
what a hoot!! You should have been a photographer
professionally. I think you missed your calling.

Your home sounds warm and snuggly.
We had a big fire last night too.

Take care. Enjoy your weather.
It actually looks beautiful
from here. You have gorgeous mountains. Be good. Cyndi

Love your disappearing & reappearing mountain pictures.

That's what I've been doing is getting all my tax stuff added up and ready to work on once the IRS comes through with their forms & instruction books. I refuse to do it online. I figure if they want my money they can supply the forms.
Have a great day.
Hugs, E

Our first dog as a married couple was a chocolate Lab/Springer Spaniel Mix. He was the best! Lived to be 17 years old! His name was Scooter but the kids called him Cooter Brown.
