Bill ~ Tomato Tortilla Soup ~ Melinda & Laura Travels ~ Patty & Cliff's Escape ~ Pirate Talk

Good 41º still dark out morning. Supposed to be cooler last night....frost warning in places, but obviously not here! Stayed nice all day yesterday, did top out at 81º.

This is 'Orygun' and the weather predictions change hourly!

Special birthday today... Bill Postmus (LASD ret) former Academy DI! HAPPY BIRTHDAY BILL!
                            Academy days.....
And with his wife Connie....
Bill and Connie's grandson Casey is the soldier stationed in Afghanistan that we sent the "care" packages to.

This from my Diamond Bar friend Edda... from her sister...

"With Fall on the horizon, Glo sent me an easy recipe from Campbell's....Tortilla Soup...1 can Con. Tomato Soup, 1 c. milk, 2 Tbsp. Taco Seasoning....18 tortilla chips broken up. Shredded Colby/jack (or your choice) for topping.  Mix first 3 ingredients in pan and bring to a simmer...makes 2 servings...put chips in bottom of 2 bowls...pour steaming soup over chips and top with cheese."  Boy, this sounds good. I'm ready for some now!!! Thanks E!!

Now, knowing how I always alter recipes, I'd do the following... cut up a ripe avocado, a tomato, and some cilantro. I'd add the tomato to the soup to give it a fresh taste. You could also use the salad tortilla strips instead of chips... pour soup into bowls, top with more tortilla strips, cheese, and avocado, sprinkle on some fresh cilantro leaves. Even add a dollop of sour cream....

My nephew's wife, Melinda and our Greek traveling friends went on a cruise to the Baltic... that took them to Berlin, Estonia, St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Copenhagen, and Stockholm. I sure missed out!!! Traveling were Melinda, Laura, Pat, and The Captain... Here are a few of photos..

Laura ... at Catherine's Palace in St. Petersburg..

Fountains at Petershof in St. Petersburg...

Laura and Melinda at Brandenburg Gate in Berlin...

Mel at the Berlin Wall....

PICTURE of the day...

Tuesday Patty and Cliff were in downtown Medford on Riverside when a vehicle driving radically zoomed up on them and then past them causing Patty to scream and Cliff to veer to the right .... then the car crashed into another vehicle and caused serious injuries. "Whew"  moment for Patty and Cliff!!!

I am FB friends with and receive his blog of the head cruise director for Carnival, John Heald. He is on one of the ships in the Baltic and tells about all those wonderful ports and sights.
One thing I don't understand. Your friend, Mel, is standing by the "Berlin Wall". How does that happen when it was torn down long ago?

Glo's version of the soup is so simple. I like your additions!

"The Berlin Wall was a symbol of the Cold War and separation of Germany and Berlin.
For more than 30 years tourists also came to Berlin to view the Berlin Wall.
Today tourists will be disappointed about the Berlin Wall as a tourist attraction. In Berlin only a few sections of the former Berlin Wall and some watch towers still exist and it's to be expected that even more of these Berlin Wall sections on original places will disappear within the next years."

God bless your friends weren't taken by a car racing.

If you get a chance to hear Trisha Yearwood sing in person. Do. She not only is graced with one of the greatest living voices- she knows its power - when to hold back and when to let it fly free.

AHHHH Thanks! I did not know that portions of the wall are still up. Right after it came down Eric was there and brought me pieces of it. It must be drying out because it crumbles so I don't touch it.

Love Trishas! lol

Anyway thanks for the clarification.

XO Trisha (the other Trisha:)
