Fawn ~ Turkey Chicks ~ Chaka the Princess ~

Good 47º clear and sunny morning. 86% humidity. Gonna be a beaut like yesterday.

One of the pictures of my hummingbirds has been posted on the World of Hummingbirds page...
Click on the "Photos" tab and click on the first picture of the bird in flight....

Yesterday this little yearling fawn was so happily busy eating on the deer block,

she didn't even panic when I opened the back door. Here she is watching Harley walk by....

We also had a visit from baby turkey chicks....

I went to town on several errands.... dropping egg cartons to Leah for the many chicken eggs she is going to reap from her brood, post office to mail cards, Brian's office to drop off one of those cantaloupes ... (I ate a whole one! OINK. It was sooooooooooo good and ripened to perfection. Don't forget to go to 7 Oaks this weekend...they started picking corn yesterday!) Then I went to Bill and Jeannie's.

Bill had hung up his USMC flag (just for me? !!) and Jeannie, the consummate hostess, met me with a chilled glass of wine! Wow. We sat on the deck with this fabulous view...

So beautiful and so relaxing. Chaka was a doll...

Such a sweet dog.

Jeannie had fixed horse ovaries.... (hors d'oeuvres!) and we blabbed and blabbed about everything under the sun. Billy was in the process of smoking some ribs. The smell was incredible. He gave me a plate of them home. LUCKY ME!~ They are OMG GOOD!!! I pigged out when I got back here. The wonderful smell in my car was making me crazy, and I wanted to stop and eat them! Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Thank you guys so very much!
Of course the Oslo Norway bombing and shootings are the top of the news. What a sad state of affairs for those people touched by a maniac. 80 dead. So tragic. We do understand this....

1936Don Drysdale, American baseball player (d. 1993)

(with Sandy Koufax)
Drysdale was born in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, California and attended Van Nuys High School, where one of his classmates was actor Robert Redford.[They were also together on the school baseball team. Drysdale pitched, and Redford played second base.

1961 – Woody Harrelson, American actor
 (He's just creepy weird!)

1973 – Monica Lewinsky, American White House intern

By 2005, Lewinsky found that she could not escape the spotlight in the U.S., with both her professional and personal life difficult. She stopped selling her handbag line and moved to London. In December 2006, Lewinsky graduated with a master's degree in social psychology from the London School of Economics where she had been studying since September 2005. Her thesis was titled “In Search of the Impartial Juror: An Exploration of the Third-person effect and Pre-Trial Publicity”. She has since tried to avoid publicity. Lewinsky did correspond in 2009 with scholar Ken Gormley, who was writing an in-depth study of the Clinton scandals, maintaining that Clinton had lied under oath about his relationship with her: "There was no leeway [there] on the veracity of his statements because they asked him detailed and specific questions to which he answered untruthfully."

Okie dokie, nuff said. Happy Saturday. Ciao.

Thank you for yesterday, it was fun! Great picture of Chaka, and your Hummer pic is incredible!

Glad you enjoyed Bill's ribs. I thought they were really good, but like I said, a bit salty. Needs to change his rub some. We will do it again and have you over for the next taste test.

Have a wonderful day, and by the way, thank you again for your infused garlic oil! YUMMO

xoxo

Sue,
I could almost taste those ribs as you told about the smell in your car and how you wanted to pull over and eat them right then and there. Torture for sure! We used to have a smoker but John eventually gave it away. Heck it's like pulling teeth to get him to go out and watch the meat on the BBQ.:(

Monica L has a beautiful face but that body of hers....... You would think with all the heartache and stress she went thru that she would have gotten skinny!

I have a smoker, but it's in the barn. I should bring it up to the porch! Jerry used to smoke peanuts in the shell and they are AWESOME! I may just have to do that. I do like smoked chicken too. Will keep you posted on this... Bill is going to experiment with smoked peanuts too, so will blog about it.
