~ Neko ~ Tigger ~ Pasta with Leeks ~ Police Memorial Day ~

Good 43º morning. The 80% "chance" of rain last night turned into 100%. We got over 1/4". Looks like more today also.

So, I went to town yesterday and got my hair cut. Had a fun chat with Leah, my hair person. She is a lot of fun. Then went to Ace because they were having a huge Purina Dog Food promotion. They had a petting zoo and Leah's daughter Marley

was there helping out. They had rabbits, a black and white rat who was Steve and a girl rat, a turkey hen (Dorrie's and she could pet her!), baby goats, baby chicks, and baby ducks. All darling. Well, except for the turkey hen. They are just not attractive.

Then to the new little produce stand in town and got a lime for cocktail time. Hey!! 'I'll make a rhyme about a lime for cocktail time!' Taaa daaa... And I got some asparagus. Geesh, that doesn't rhyme with anything. Oh wait, 'Asparagus slides down your esophagus.   :o( Sorry. Hard word to rhyme.

PJ and Dave sent this picture of their Neko. She crawls into a pillowcase and does a u-turn and then peeks out the opening...

Now, my Tigger (T-I-Double Gaaa-R) when she was young (this is about 1976 or 77) she would crawl into the still warm dryer after I had removed the clothes ...

The eagles look like they are getting big enough to fly now...
Mama still keeps a close eye on them....

Maggie and I took a ride up to Patty and Cliff's and had cocktails and chatted for a bit. Came home and I had some leeks in the fridge so dug out some whole wheat angel hair pasta, Philadelphia Italian Cooking Sauce, chopped the leeks, some red bell pepper, drained canned sliced mushrooms, chopped asparagus, sliced radishes, and added grape tomatoes to the fray.

Cooked the pasta. All the veggies went into a large pan with melted butter and olive oil. Cooked til tender and added the cooking sauce and the pasta.

The Philadelphia cooking sauce is great! Very tasty. Think I'll have some leftovers for breakfast! You could also leave out the sauce and just toss the veggies with the pasta.

.. and by the way, just for my pal Judy, the leek is the national symbol of Wales.

We had a snuggy fire, the rain had just started, and I watched the sad ending to the Dodger/Diamondback's game. 1 to zip! Aarughhhh......

I do believe Ms. Edda is a cousin of some sorts to Hr. Horsely. But, being confused by rain this time of year in Southern Californi8a, I may have just made that up):-

That is the best looking leek I've ever seen! Makes me want to put one on a hat. If I were parktaking of libations, Maybe?

Have a piture of one of my kids in the dryer. Some day I will put up the story.

Ciao, Chow

Sue,
I remember one day our friend Vickie didn't come to work because she was so upset. Her cat had gotten into the dryer with the sheets, she turned it on and.....well you know. Dead cat. Horrible.

John and I just happened to be up in Sacto in May 2007 when they had their police memorial day. We stood at window in the capitol bldg and watched the hundreds of motorcycles, lights going, come over the bridge to the capitol grounds where they were to have the ceremony. John and I were introduced on the floor of the assembly that day (Thank you Bob Huff). Every bill that came before them, they passed. They were all in a hurry to get to the memorial service.

Hugs, Trisha

Jerry and I went to the Sacramento Memorial Run several times. After the ceremony in downtown CHiPs blocked off I-50 for a ride to a park where they had food and entertainment. So very cool. Now they have a destination ride afterwards to Isleton, Ca which is west and between Sac and Stockton. This year it's June 20th. John should go.

Flags were at half-mast here also to honor those in law enforcement who have given the ultimate sacrifice while doing their job. It was heart warming to see you post Raul Gama's picture here. I have the same photo from the front of the Star News I have saved and see it often inmy living room. He was one of my favorites and such a decent and caring guy. I still giggle when I think of the "Gama Fish" all over the Station after he went in to save someone in the "Riverbed", radio, gun belt and all. What a guy. He is missed and thought of often. Thanks for your postings and such great stories, information and anticdotes. I enjoy them daily. Hugs.. ~V~
