~ Mother's Day ~ Lazuli Buntings ~ Radishes ..again ~

 Good 44º morning.

It looks like it's raining on my mountain already. Of course we knew this would happen after I dropped $8 at the car wash on Wednesday afternoon.   :o(

Here is a variation of the radishes with butter on bread I put on the 5-2 blog. Claire sent this site to me.

I guess I will have to try it with cream cheese next. Although, the butter is good! Thanks Claire!!! xo

Yesterday was sort of a "do stuff" and "get it done" day. All over the house! Sort out, put in the 'give away pile', put in the 'Goodwill' pile, put in the JCRW White Elephant Sale pile....

I went to town and got corn for the critters, a chicken for Maggie, cat food, and some other stuff..... Came home and Maggie and I took a ride in the golf cart to the mailbox, the trash can, and to PJ and Dave's. They just sold a travel trailer and are on the hunt for a 5th wheel. Came back home and there was a flock of lazuli bunting in the back yard. Don't see them too often as they migrate through this way and never stay too long.

  • Breeding male with blue head and back, red chest, and white belly.

  •

  • Female and non-breeding male dull brown. (how sad)

I took down two of the birdseed feeder poles in the backyard. Since apparently the bear took the finch nyjer feeder this week I put one of the poles in the front yard. Then I "repaired" the one remaining nyjer feeder and put it on the pole. It attracted the little guys right away.  Seems the light on all night out front discourages the bear from taking the feeders. Hope so!

This long feeder is the one I repaired. The gray squirrels chewed the top and the bottom off so the top was replaced with aluminum foil and for the bottom I glued and taped on upside down a little plastic cup, the kind you get extra salad dressing in for your take out... So far so good.

It was cool and windy all day. Did put a fire in the wood stove last night, as well as the night before. I will whine when I can't have a fire anymore. It's just so snuggy! Harley gets in my lap and then we snooze until it's bed time! LOL

Happy Mother's Day to You, too! Love the buntings.

I suppose, with the patent of coca-cola, this is a benchmark in the history using coke?. Better to be in a line for the cola version than snorting from a line of the other kind.

L, you are so astute! LOL, snorting coke is still illegal as far as I know, but with the changing winds... ??? AND, snorting Coca Cola would be messy to say the least!

    Sue,
HAPPY HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO YOU!! Thank you for the lovely ecard!
Still trying to figure out why Coca Cola got a medicine patent??
Wow! I always thought Melissa Gilbert was a homely little kid. She sure did grow up to be a beauty!
Ricky was the love of my life too! Watched him every week on TV. So jealous when he got married!!! It took me years to come to terms with his death. I just couldn't believe it!

Hey girl! Consider yourself lucky to get a professsional car wash for just $8. At our DB car wash they start at $18.00!! I remember Hadley Car Wash in Whittier used to be $3.50 or something like that. Those were the days but then we didn't make much either.

    Have a good one!
    Hugs, Trisha

Thank you T!! As for the car wash... it's a drive-through, but they do scrub everyting down with soft brushes before the wash and it drips dry really well if I get on the freeway right afterwards!!! LOL
