~ Memorial Day ~

Good 45º cloudy morning with a 30% chance of rain.

Today is the 150th day of the year. It's going fast. 208 days til Christmas!   http://www.auburn.edu/~vestmon/xmas_cnt.htm

Yesterday Brian and Tucker came over to leave the wood splitter here (since he's moving) and bring me some more wood.

And then Tucker wanted to drive my golf cart... off they went...

Brian lets him drive the golf cart when they play golf, so he knew what he was doing. Pretty much! Tucker and Brian helped me raise the new flags...

The old flags will go to the Young Marines who have a flag burning ceremony on the 18th of June.

I did get the lawn mowed and Mr. Hippo is happy again. Pulled weeds, but didn't spray. Looked like it was going to rain at any moment. Did a couple of times in short bursts.

Watched the Indy 500. What a day at the races!!!
Finish order:

While the 23 year old rookie, Hildebrand was in the lead in the National Guard car and had 1/2 a lap to go... he hit the wall! I cried! OMG. How sad was that!!! Sort of amazing to me that Danica Patrick came in 10th, AGAIN, and that Franchitti was 12th! Even Castroneves finished way down the line. With speeds over 220 mph, it's amazing when they crash that nobody gets hurt!
Pictures of the first 12 drivers in order:

Except for Kanaan (who is one of my favorites), they all look 12 years old!

Not only is it Memorial Day

It's Mint Julep Day

This is a REAL Southern drink... sweet. Like Southerners like their iced tea, gagging sweet, this drink is the same.

You mean I pulled all that mint out the day before I was supposed to use it):- Not to worry. There will be enough out there today.

Thank you for the race recap. Didn't know you were a fan.

One good thing about mint, it never goes away!!! LOL Yes, race fan. Love it. Hate it when bad things happen. Used to love the Pomona Drags and when Brian worked for Roger Penske and he owned the Ontario Raceway we'd go there often too!

Sue,
Of course this family has been a racing family for years, rather, WAS. Pomona Drags was our home on Sundays unless we were traveling to other drag strips. Winner in the Winternationals in our class. Can't remember the year but Daryl has the photo of one of our dragster hanging in his room. It was green and it's name was Prestidigitator. (The Magician) Green is not a color that is normally used in racing because it's believed to be bad luck. Grandpa Bowler went against that belief!

The men would watch Indy 500 every year. I too would get so upset when they crashed. We don't watch anymore.
Did you say that Brain and family are moving? If so where?

Have a wonderful day!
XO Trisha

B and fam sold their house in the boonies and want to find something close in town to his office. Too much extra $ for gas is killer. Then, they will be closer to me!!! Yeah! xo
