~ Brian ~ "IWSHIWR" ~ Marion ~ Rain! ~ Snail Butter ~

Good 35º morning. Burrrrr... I know my tomato is not happy!

My heart just goes out to the folks in Joplin Missouri. What tragedy and sadness. Unbelievable destruction. I cried watching the news. Think they'll be askin' for food stamps and new TV's and trailers to live in, forever! ? I doubt it. Pathetic some of the folks in this country. Sit on their big fat asses and hold their hand out and never once do anything to contribute. Ok ok ok... off the

Sunday when I was in the throes of getting ready for the Fiesta, here comes Brian and his neighbor Neil with a load of Madrone for me! Yipppeeeeee

I told B that I had made taquitos for the party and he wanted to know if he could have some. OF course! Both he and Neil had a few and some guacamolé. Good thing I made a lot! That is when he asked about the chocolate cake. Sorry buddy. Not today.

So, yesterday Maggie and I go to GP to take back the sombrero

and take Brian some of the chocolate cake. (Hope he shared with you Emily!) I stopped at Photo Den with an old negative I found of Daddy and I probably looks like Easter 1954. They send it out to a place in Portland so will be a couple of weeks until its back. Then home....

AND YOU WILL NEVER GUESS WHAT I SAW ON I-5 SOUTHBOUND!!! The license plate is a Collifornia plate "IWSHIWR" !! It was the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile!

That was fun! I stopped at ACE and showed everyone pictures and at the Vet's office and showed Joan!

People I am so so tired of hearing about on the news:
Schwarzenegger
Oprah - will be so glad when she finishes her last show!!!
Lohan
and Obama "exploring his Irish roots" ~! GAG. I guess I really hoped my Irish side had some bright folks, but after seeing the news how the crowds in Ireland fawned and cheered over BO, I almost threw up!
...and that GD Bin Laden! Stop with the jokes already.
Thank goodness Sheen and Jessie James are sort of fading. What idiot is next? Hmmmm.... cranky this morning, are we? Yes.

Historically this date.....
1883 – The Brooklyn Bridge in New York City is opened to traffic after 14 years of construction.
1940Igor Sikorsky performs the first successful single-rotor helicopter flight.
1962Project Mercury: American astronaut Scott Carpenter orbits the Earth three times in the Aurora 7 space capsule.
1994 – Four men convicted of bombing the World Trade Center in New York in 1993 are each sentenced to 240 years in prison.

...and, sadly, my sister Marion died on this day in 2004. She had adult onset leukemia. Kristen and I got to visit with her in the second week of April and about two weeks later she was in the hospital and on morphine heavily sedated. I miss her so. Here's a picture of me with my sisters on June 14, 1975.... Betty on the left and Marion on the right.

... and Marion the last time I saw her...

 RIP dear sister of mine.

1945Priscilla Presley, American actress

What a beauty she was!

and for more "oops" plastic surgeries:

All I know. Rain started pouring big time about 2:30 yesterday. I brought in some wood and made a fire! The weed spraying is put off for another day! Dave and PJ came up and we figured out his camera card was ok. He couldn't get any of the pictures off of it so now he has computer issues.

I had dinner and kept the fire stoked. Caught up on TV shows I had Tivo'd. Went to bed and slept like a rock!

Nuff said. Happy Tuesday.

National Escargot Day
Thanks, but no thanks. A snail will never cross my lips!!!!

(GAG)

But, if you like good stuff and are not a fan of eating snails... then here is a recipe that was a favorite of my sister Marion:
Snail Butter
1/2 cup butter, at room temp
1 T finely chopped shallots
3 lg cloves garlic, minced
2 t. finely chopped parsley
1/8 t. white pepper
Mix all together. About 3/4 cup.

Place mushrooms, stem removed, open side up in a cupcake pan and spoon the Snail Butter over the top and broil 6-8 minutes. OR..
Slice zucchini 3/8" thick, top w/ Snail Butter, sprinkle on paprika. Bake 500º until brown and tender, about 6-8 min. OR...
Place deveined shrimp in gratin dish, sprinkle with lemon, cover with Snail Butter. Bake 375º 10-12 minutes.  OR...

Toss a little Snail Butter with sauteéd potatoes or stir in mashed potatoes. AWESOME~!

great picture taking while driving - I bet you were surprised to see that going down the road.... nice picture of you and your sisters, very pretty young ladies, sorry for your loss and know you miss her very much, you mention her often. Wow - great firewood your son brought you, so nice that you have him close by to help you out...that is wonderful plus the fact you get to see the grandkids often and watch them grow up...lucky you!! I won't move back to MN to be close to mine, too darn cold and wet back there for my old bones. Hope you have a good day, I am heading out to volunteer at the visitor center...need to stop in town b4 and p/u my mail, have not been in since last Wed and might be some bills waiting for my attention. Love you...N

I must try the snail butter......sounds delish. We are going to a crab boil Sat. Nite and they would be good appetizers, and not heavy. In fact, prepared a little differently it would be a great compound butter to keep in a roll in freezer. I have made those compound butters and put a small pat inside cold hamburger patties. Grill, they are so yummy and the patty is always moist.

Sue,

How exciting to see the Weenermobile on the highway! WOW! You sure do get some good photo while driving! lol
You know for a split second I thought your sister on the left was Kristin! Is it my imagination or do they look alike? Maybe it's the height. Do they?
I'm with you re the snails! Never never never! The snail butter sounds good tho!
Poor rich Priscilla should have grown old gracefully! She looks like a wax figure now. Awful and she was so gorgeous! Remember their wedding? Elvis wanted her to look like him so her hair was dyed black and really poofy. She was a beauty!

Have a good one! How nice of Brian and friend to bring all that nice wood!

XO Trisha

I guess I have to be anonymous too. Google won't let me log in ... Grrrrr...
Thanks Rho. Yes, we do have that bond. Hope all is well with you. Nice to hear from you.

Nan, soon I'm sure they will outlaw photography while driving! LOL

Thanks for the butter in the hamburger patty, Del! Sounds great! Butter is heaven anyway.

T, yes, what a surprise to see Mr. Wienermobile! Must be Kristen's height, I don't see it in their faces. xo
