~ Ladybugs ~ Flies ~ Strawberries ~

Good 40º raining morning. The radar doesn't show anything over us, but the rain is sure coming down! 1/4" so far. Some sprinkles yesterday and a tiny bit of sun.

Maggs and I went to the market about 1-ish yesterday. Chicken still on sale at Rays for 89¢ per pound. Got three 6# chickens. One went into the crockpot and two in the freezer. Seems I'm cooking one every 7 days or so. Only thing Maggie will eat! I opened a can of prime dog food yesterday morning and she turned her nose up at it. Gave the rest of the large can of chicken with vegetables to Mike at Napa for the dogs there.

Came home and saved lives! Really. Seems a batch of lady bugs
hatched in my bathroom in the plants in there. I caught and released 7 of those little guys...

Lately this has been a 'hatchery'. I had a bunch of big black flies suddenly appear in my kitchen window. They must have hatched from the track the window is in. I killed over 30 of them one morning and now occasionally another couple will appear. Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Last night was reruns on the corned beef and cabbage and seemed like reruns on TV too. I watched a movie called Alaska. Jake Barnes and his two kids, Sean and Jessie, move to Alaska after his wife died. He is a former airline pilot now delivering groceries and staples across the mountains. During an emergency delivery in a storm his plane goes down somewhere in the mountains. Annoyed that the authorities aren't doing enough, Jessie and Sean set out on an adventure to find their father with the help of a polar bear cub which they have saved from a ferocious poacher.
Father played by Dirk Benedict and if you can believe it, the bad guy was Charlton Heston! Made in 1996. The bear cub was CUTE!!!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Monday.

Good morning. My dogs agree with Mags about dog food. They will eat Bil Jack for dry- but they split whole cooked fresh chicken and an egg (yolk cooked solid) in either olive oil or a touch of real butter.

Quite a bit of rain moved through here yesterday. Enough that the duffy boat adventure was cancelled. Got home just before it sounded like a hurricane.

I was thinking of Japan this weekend. And Califorina. Places of great beauty are often born of trauma. There must be a lesson in there for us.

Sue,
Glad to be back safe and sound. Quite the storm in Sacto. The flight home felt like we were a cork in an ocean! More later.
Stormed last night here too.

Yes, a strawberry Maggie sounds like just the thing!

Hugs, Trisha
