Clouds ~ Super Soup ~ Oregon Ducks ~

Good 26º morning. Fog. Imagine. Whodda thought!
Late afternoon yesterday the sky was strange.... sun and some awesome clouds trying to come out from behind the fog...

I spent the day doing New Years cards in place of Christmas cards.  I had some great conversations... Jim, old high school buddy, Candy, a new acquaintance .. her hubby former LASD, and BFF Linda.

I made some 'super' soup. Used Harry and David's dry chicken/vegetable mix (thank you Jean!), used water and chicken base and then added Imagine creamy chicken soup. The 'chicken' was two cans of chunky chicken, Kirkland brand, from Costco (which is really tasty and tender), a can of olives, a can of sliced mushrooms, sliced garlic, and onion of course, and a bag of broccoli slaw. Very hearty and GOOD!

I was going to add a can of quartered artichoke hearts, but ended up
snacking on them instead!

The news out of Arizona on the shootings is so emotional to me, don't know why. I guess it brings back 9-11 and all the innocent senseless deaths. So many hearts are broken.

Maggs, Harley, and I had a snuggy fire and caught up on some of my Tivo'd shows and periodicals that are stacking up.

Tonight is a birthday celebration for my friend PatC. It will be at the Homestead in town. Most of the lounges and sports bars in Oregon will be hosting "game night" as the Oregon Ducks play the Auburn Tigers this evening. Big deal for Oregonads.  The Ducks  have dominated opponents this season with a 16-0 record.  Some Ducks history:
The Ducks won their only Rose Bowl in 1917 against the University of Pennsylvania and have been to four Rose Bowls since, losing all four.[84] However, the Ducks did play in and won the 2002 Fiesta Bowl against the Colorado Buffaloes which took the Pac-10 champions in years where the Rose Bowl is reserved for the national championship game like 2002.[85][86] Since the two Rose Bowls in 1917 and 1920, the Ducks have had little success in making bowl games until 1989, with the exception of a sparse string of bowl games between 1949 and 1963. Under head coach Rich Brooks, the Ducks went to four bowl games including the 1989 and 1992 Independence Bowls, the 1990 Freedom Bowl, and the 1995 Rose Bowl.[84] During Mike Bellotti's tenure as head coach between the 1995 and 2008 seasons, the Ducks have been to a bowl game every year with the exception of the 1996 and 2004 seasons. In 2009 the Ducks earned a berth in the 2010 Rose Bowl, losing to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Two words to describe the backstory of the Arizona Incident. Character Assasination.

I think everyone has been on board that the hostility quota in American discourse has been dialed way too high for way too long. Once the dust settles, I am praying each side understands their own sins and deals with it.

The bigget hypocrite in this is the media. By how they have covered other incidents (think Columbine High shooting) and outlets such as MTV that glorify fame above all else....

Excuse my English- but there is more evidence so far that the shooter was a narcisistic pshycho path that could have as easily gone to an event headlined by an R as by a D.

As to the local Sherrif's proclomation about his area's residents. Shame on him! When the area was crying out for help- the federal government sent lawyer's to sue. In any situation that is acrimonious, not healing.

While I'm at it: the term targeted district: I learned that term back in the '70's. When I was a Democrat.

Time to stop leading the facts. Let the facts lead the investigation. And may such senseless violence never taint our nation again.

Sue,

I am also very upset by all this! I am sick to death at the finger pointing at the conservatives! Can you say "pot/kettle"?
I just heard a montage of all the filthy things the left has gone on record saying for years now against the right.
One thing is definite: The ONLY one to blame here is the perp, period!

On to a happier topic. Just got home from shopping and errands. Will try to send out a dd later.

Hugs, T
