Gloom ~ Coyote ~ Fastest Living Creature ~ Hawk & Squirrel ~ Linda Nantz ~ Sue's White Bean Supper Soup ~ Sunday/Monday NFL Games

Good 42º dark gloomy foggy/cloudy morning.

Dude just started barking like crazy. I went out and there was Mr. Coyote, very close to the yard. I kept saying "shooo" but he just stared at me. So I started down off the porch and he was gone like shot out of a cannon!

Yesterday was cloudy/foggy and gloomy all day. Warmed to 51º.

This is interesting. The question was "What is the fastest living creature on earth?"
Answer: Did you say cheetah? You are wrong. The cheetah is only the "fastest animal" if you restrict your search to land. It can't hold a candle to the Peregrine Falcon, lord of the air.

The Peregrine Falcon is the fastest moving species on planet Earth. They can gain incredible top speeds of up to 242 mph while in a dive, making it the fastest member of the animal kingdom. Peregrine falcons are among the world's most common birds of prey and live on all continents except Antarctica.
And speaking of preditorial birds...
Here is a super AMAZING video of a hawk on the move for a squirrel. The camera work blew my mind!

Yesterday I paid bills (yippee) and made a calendar. I was going to go to a Christmas fair with pal Karen, but the mood squished me. Sorry Karen.

Today is a super special friend's birthday... my BFF Linda Nantz. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRLFRIEND!!!
Linda and Andy a few years ago when they passed through here on a car run.
Her hubby Andy was in the Marines with Jerry.

And what about this.... my White Bean Supper Soup. It's winter, so this is great!

1 thinly sliced onion
1 large minced garlic clove
1 cup button mushrooms, sliced
olive oil
2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
1 19 oz can white kidney beans
pinch pepper
Spinach, torn and equal to at least half of a 10 oz bag, depending on personal taste
Grated Parmesan cheese
Sauté onion, garlic, and sliced mushrooms in olive oil until fragrant. Add broth. Stir in kidney beans and a generous pinch of pepper. (I also like to add cooked cut up chicken thighs and some broccoli and baby peeled carrots sliced) When hot add in spinach and stir in grated cheese. Serves 2-3.

Today's NFL games ... and Monday's game:

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Sunday. Ciao.

December 4th

December 4, 2016 is

National Cookie Day

It’s National Cookie Day! Did you know that the English word "cookie" is derived from the Dutch word "koekje," which means little cake? Dutch bakers used to test oven temperatures on small amounts of batter so that they would not waste the entire cake mix if the temperature wasn't right. It was not long before they discovered that these tiny pieces of cooked batter were actually quite tasty!
Cookies come in all different flavors, shapes, and sizes. To celebrate National Cookie Day, bake a few batches of your favorite variety and invite your friends over for a cookie swap with a festive digital invitation! When you use digital invitations instead of paper, you help the Earth by cutting back on excess paper waste.
  • December 4, 2016 is also National Dice Day
  • December is National Fruit Cake Month | National Egg Nog Month
  • This week is National Cookie Cutter Week
