Errands & Shopping ~ Computer ~ Century Link ~ Kirk Gibson ~ Daryl & Kevin Bowler ~ Stir Fry ~ Burger Day

Good clear sunny 38º ice on the barn roof morning.

LOL, from Dave Clark (LASD ret)

Yesterday I decided to get into Grants Pass for some shopping. Stopped by to see Brian at his office, dropped off a jacket at the cleaners next door to his office, Vogue Cleaners. Then to the camera store with some negatives I found recently my sister Betty had sent me when I lived in Temple City in 1989, to get them printed out. Then to Safeway. Grants Pass is busy with everyone gearing up for the parade tomorrow and the boat races. Stopped at the ATM to deposit my tax refund check. Home.

After I got here I saw the notice from FedEx. They had attempted to deliver my new computer but I wasn't here. Normally UPS delivers here between 9:30 and 10:30. FedEx delivers between 1:00-2:00-3:00pm. Natch, they were here at 11:45 according to the note on the door! DANG! Now I won't get it until Tuesday.

Put the groceries away and Bob Jiles, the Century Link guy (super nice) called and wanted my gate code so he could check the phone lines running from here up to my neighbor's place. He said it would be great to run a separate line to their place from the road but that would cost about 5 grand as they are far far up off the road! Here you can see his truck at their place...

Today is the birthday of one of my favorite Dodgers... Kirk Gibson! HAPPY BIRTHDAY KIRK!!

One of his sons, Cam, was drafted by the Detroit Tigers (for whom his dad played in the mid '80's) and sadly Kirk was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease this past year.

Today is also a special birthday of my pals Trish & John Bowler's (LASD ret) twins .... Kevin and Daryl. John and Trish 38 years ago....

Daryl with his son Christian...

Kevin with his Isabella and Ian...

Breakfast.... boneless skinless chicken thigh, poached egg, tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella balls.... YUMMMM!

National Hamburger Day (Be still my heart!)
In-N-Out burger:

Micky's burger:

Bob's Big Boy burger (add avocado and a side of blue cheese dressing please!!!!):

Taprock's HEAVEN burger:

National Hamburger Day is a favorite food holiday in the United States. Top it with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion-or toss on a slice of cheese with some ketchup and mustard. Whether you go gourmet or just plain bread and beef, you're sure to end up with a full stomach! Like Hot Dog Day and Cheeseburger Day, this celebration usually occurs during sunny weather when people can get outside to grill their own beef. Of course, burger joints across the nation also chip in to make it a belt-busting day, with plenty of special deals. All in all, Americans down 50 billion burgers a year-and this old-time favorite accounts for 4 out of every 10 sandwiches sold in the U.S. A couple more fun hamburger facts: The biggest burger ever on a restaurant menu was 185.8 pounds and cost almost $500. Want to challenge your appetite even more? Check out the Dyer's Café in Memphis where cooks have been frying hamburgers in the same grease since 1912! http://www.dyersonbeale.com/

AWWWW Thank you for recognizing my twins birthday. Great photos! Seems they are in good company with Kirk Gibson!
Kevin and family have been staying here for a few days so I could watch baby while Kevin worked from here. This morning Kevin had to go get new tires on his car. At exactly 9:11 he called home to say that was the time he was born 38 years ago. lol

Your dinner as always looks yummy.

mmmmm In & Out is always the BEST!

Happy "Birth-Day" Anniversary to Trisha and John. 38 years of teaching their children to be good men is being passed down. What a quiet thrill and worthy legacy.
