Good 60º cloudy darn rooster crowing morning.

Dude was watching me take a picture of my mountain...
If one rooster at the neighbors wasn't irritating enough, now he's got two of those freeking things!

Good thing this wasn't the cloud formation this morning, or I would have gone back to bed!!!

Yesterday: 9am 63º, 11am 78º, 12:30 84º and smokey!, 2:30 87º. Was going to mow, but didn't want to be out in that ick smokey air.

Last night was a Perseid meteor shower, but because of the cloud cover here it was not available to see... Did anyone see it?

Here is something interesting.. a fruit that helps you lose weight, from Dr. Axe:

My friend Ike sent this. Good one Ike!

Historically this date..................
1929 – Babe Ruth becomes the first baseball player to hit 500 home runs in his career with a home run atLeague Park in Cleveland, Ohio.
1934 – The first civilian prisoners arrive at the Federal prison on Alcatraz Island.
1965 – Race riots (the Watts riots) begin in the Watts area of Los Angeles, California.
.... Living in Paramount at the time, right across the LA River/Long Beach Fwy and about 2 miles from the center of the riots... it was scary!!! We had a second story apartment and could see the fires from our balcony. The poleece were stationed at the freeway over crossings to keep the rioters from coming into Paramount. Thank God!

Just too weird for me!

Picture of the day.... she ran out of toner!

Made birthday cards yesterday. Then one is coming up fast so Dude and I took a quick ride into town to mail the card so "Pat" gets it on time!

Cleaned out the cupboards, er, rearranged them! Concocted a bunch of stuff for a salad for dinner.... Rehydrated carrots, peas, mushrooms, bell peppers. Slightly cooked some broccoli and cauliflower and carrots that were in the fridge. On hand, clams, artichoke hearts, olives, garlic, tomatoes, a cucumber, and some Anellini pasta .
In the bowl went the clams, artichoke hearts, olives, and tomatoes.
Next the cucumbers, re-hydrated veggies, and cooked broc/cauli/carrots ...
Cooked the Anellini pasta and drained, cooled, and added that. When I cook pasta I always add some olive oil to the water and a good amount of Lawry's Garlic Salt.
Mixed it all up. Not enough clams, so added another can. The put in covered bowl in refrigerator til I was ready to make dressing...

Looked out the kitchen window and the doe from yesterday was back and munching grass. Sorry, porch rail in way....

The dressing for the salad:

Super yummy and crunch and tasty! I have to say those Harmony House Dehydrated Veggies are awesomely good! Really flavorful.

Later watched a Hallmark Movie, When Sparks Fly...
Cute movie!

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Tuesday. Ciao.

I remember the riots! Wow, you lived in Paramount. I went to school there, lived in Hollydale just off Paramount Blvd., first street north of Century which is now the Century Fwy. 105. I graduated in '64, got married in July '65 and was living in Downey. I remember my family worrying about me driving to my job in LA. I don't remember the smoke. You probably lived closer to Rosecrans.

Anyway, love your blog and recalling some of the history tidbits is very informative. Of course loving your pictures and your food concoctions, too!

Janet, we lived on Orange Avenue, can't remember the address, but I looked it up on Google earth and nothing looks the same anymore! So much building and freeways! That was in 1965 when George and I got married (lol, same year as you!) He worked at his dad's bakery in Whittier, so it was an easy drive. Thanks for the compliments! xo

Too overcast here, too. Think I heard Gerry say the best view is in the Northeast- but I wasn't paying attention.

Love the kitty picture- the caption is adorable.

I remember the Watts riots. My sister was supposed see Red Skelton in Hollywood- no way were we allowed outside or away from after dark then. My dad was in charge of security for Sears warehouse at the time. His shotgun went in the backseat of his Volkswagen- I don't think we saw him for two weeks.
When he came home, that shotgun stayed in the car- even when it was his turn to carpool. We just climbed over the gun- horrified my dad could not let go of that moment.
