Happy Camp Fire ~ 91214 ~ Website Hacking ~ Turmeric ~ Zucchini Souffle ~ Daddy ~ Inner Peace ~ Cards ~ Sorrento Lemon

Good 46º morning. Interesting how these mornings stay cool for some time, but when it's time to heat up it sure does! And stays that way even into the night. Yesterday so horribly humid. Like being in Florida!

The fire in California just south of the Oregon border has grown to over 108,000 acres! It's somewhere about 35% contained. This news is from the 10th...

I received an email from my friend Erika who lives in La Crescenta. She said yesterday, as with every 100 years, La Crescenta celebrates 9-12-14  ... their zip code 91214 !!!!!

Something, not good, is going on. Our Jackson Co Republican Women site has been compromised according to our President Ruth. Also the Los Angeles Co retired deputy site has been compromised. WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON????? China? ISIS? Or our own government?????

I was watching the Dr. Oz show Thursday and he was talking the benefits of Turmeric for reducing swelling and stopping pain. There are capsules you can buy at the health food store Nancy Perry was telling me about. So Dr. Oz made a Turmeric Cocktail...

1/2 juice of lime
1/4 juice off lemon
1/2 c orange juice
3 T water
1 T honey
1 t turmeric
1 slice papaya
Squeeze lime and lemon juice into drink mixer. Add orange juice, water, honey, and turmeric to mixture. finely chop or blend papaya and add. Shake and strain into martini glass.
(Or mix it in the blender!)
Turmeric has many benefits for joint pain, Parkinson disease, pulmonary disease, diabetes, wound healing...
http://www.progressivehealth.com/joint-pain-turmeric.htm
It has also shown to help improve moods such as depression and/or the "winter blues". Check it out. I'm going to get some for my arthritis.

My friend Cyndi Moreno (Deputies on the Go) sent this:
(Not a picture of Cyndi's recipe..just one from the internet!)

                                       ZUCCHINI SOUFFLE

4 to 6 med. zucchini, sliced (unpeeled)
6 eggs (beat them 6 min.)
2 cups pepper jack cheese (grated)
2 cups cheddar cheese (grated)
3/4 onion (diced small)
bag of potato chips
salt
pepper
paprika
onion salt

1.  Cook zucchini in boiling water for 15 min until soft.
2.  Set oven to 350
3.  Using a 9 x 13 dish, spray non stick spray into it.
4.  After zucchini is done, pour off water, and mash like you would potatoes.
5.  To the zucchini, add cheeses, onion, and all seasonings.
6.  Lastly add, whipped eggs and stir to blend.
7.  Pour all into the 9 x 13 pan .  Add more grated cheese to top, and crush 1/2 bag of potato chips on top of cheese
8.  Bake for 40 min at 350 and let cool slightly before serving

It is DELISH!!!

I want to thank all of you, my family and friends, for sending or giving me birthday cards. I am Blessed. The cards are so much appreciated! xoxoxo
They will stay up my whole birthday month!

Here you go, SOW Sistas!

Yesterday I went into town... post office and liquor store. I bought a bottle of tequila for Dave for his birthday. He and Jerry would sit in the barn and enjoy shots of José. They had a new vodka I had not seen before. 360 Sorrento Lemon distilled in Missouri. I asked the clerk if she had tried it and she said it was GOOD! So I bought some. If you like lemon, get some!
OMGoodness does this company have a lot of flavors... The next one I want to try is Buttered Popcorn!

Come on Fall and Come on the new TV season! So so tired of reruns or NOTHING on TV. Sunday will be football, so that's good! GO PATS!!!!! ♥

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Saturday. Ciao.

Uncle Sam Day celebrates a symbol of America. Uncle Sam is certainly one of America's most recognized symbols. Uncle Sam appears on everything from military posters to cartoon images to advertising media. He is perhaps, the most recognizable symbol in the world.
Did you Know? There are other human symbols representing our country. None anywhere near as popular as Uncle Sam. They include Brother Jonathan, who largely disappeared after the arrival of Uncle Sam,
and Columbia, a female.

Origin of Uncle Sam Day:
There are two theories as to how Uncle Sam emerged. Both date back to the early 1800's.
The officially recognized theory dates back to soldiers stationed near Troy, New York during the war of 1812. Barrels of meat they received were stamped "U.S." The supplier was Samuel Wilson of Troy, New York. Solders jokingly referred to him as "Uncle Sam". In 1813, the first image of "Uncle Sam" appeared. In 1961, the U.S. Congress issued a resolution recognizing "Uncle Sam" Wilson, and authorizing a monument in his hometown in Troy, NY.
There is a second, less popular theory of the creation of Uncle Sam. During the early 1800's, Irish immigrants were coming to America. Some believed that Uncle Sam emerged from these immigrants. In their Gaelic language, the United Stares of America was "Stáit Aontaithe Mheiriceá", abbreviated "SAM".
Uncle Sam Day became official in 1989, when a joint resolution of Congress designated September 13 "Uncle Sam Day".  This date was selected, as "Uncle Sam" Wilson was born on September 13, 1776.

Happy Birthday to your daddy in Heaven.
I think it's cute that I can see you and Brian in your daddy's eyes when he was young. Then later I can see you in your mom. Such a sweet looking couple.

WOW! I have never seen anyone getting that many birthday cards! You are truly blessed.

Love the "Inner Peace" cartoon. So true! :)
