Blonde Man ~ Riley's Rescue ~ Close Calls ~ Janie ~ Salad ~ Snake ~ Pink

Good 49º clear sunny morning. Hit around 89º yesterday.

Another blonde man joke from Lynn Helbing...
A blonde man goes to the vet with his goldfish.
"I think it's got epilepsy," he tells the vet.
The vet takes a look and says, "It seems calm enough to me." The blonde man says,
"Wait, I haven't taken it out of the bowl yet."

Yesterday morning I made some Harry and David Moose Munch coffee and added in some Torani sugar free macadamia nut syrup. OMGOOOOOOD!!!!!!

The story of a rescue of a pup who was put down 250' into a canyon in the AZ desert. It's also the story of a rescue of the pup's rescuer. Zack, the rescuer, is a former Marine with a background of a horrible home life and bullying. Read about it, click on "The Rescue" to watch the 13 minute video. Pour a glass of wine and watch it. Keep a Kleenex close by. Amazing story. Loved it. The video was sent to me by Ron Weisberger. Thanks Ron. Amazing.

This will make you cringe... sent from Mike Cipolla... OMG.
Subject: Close Calls 2014  Yikes! Almost accidents...

.... and my friend Janie Alden, leather crafter extrodinaire!

To see some of Janie's handy work :

Historically this date...

1917 – In a game against the Washington SenatorsBoston Red Sox pitcher Ernie Shoreretires 26 batters in a row after replacing Babe Ruth, who had been ejected for punching the umpire.

1940 – World War IIGerman leader Adolf Hitler surveys newly defeated Paris in now occupied France.

1942 – World War II: the first selections for the gas chamber at Auschwitz take place on a train full of Jews from Paris.
..........unbelievably horribly sickening!

1982 – Chinese American Vincent Chin is beaten to death in Highland Park, Michigan, by two auto workers who had mistaken him for Japanese and who were angry about the success of Japanese auto companies.

1985 – A terrorist bomb aboard Air India flight 182 brings the Boeing 747 down off the coast of Ireland killing all 329 aboard.

And births this date include...
1929 – June Carter Cash, American singer (d. 2003)

1957 – Frances McDormand, American actress
....ah yes, Fargo!

Yesterday's lunch....
A bed of baby spinach, tomatoes, avocado, sugar snap peas... a splash of lemon juice, some olive oil drizzled on, and a splash or two of pomegranate balsamic. Then drops of Trader Joe's ricotta cheese. AWESOME!!!!

Took the (new) trash can to the road. On the way back noticed a gopher snake on the road just inside the gate. He was not moving. Ran my hand down his body and he stuck out his tongue so I knew he was OK.

All I know. Happy Monday. Nuff said. Ciao.

Your leather crafter friend is quite the artisan.

I love pink in roses. Love it is my granddaughter's favorite color. But a pink Harley or Hummer????? Context matters.

Love your recipes...some so simple yet so delicious.
I went to a call of a snake at a house and my partner, who was scared of snakes, said he would NOT even touch it. When I picked up the snake, the look on my partner's face was priceless as he proclaimed.. "You're not getting in our car with THAT thing..!!",,,so I picked up the gopher snake and got in the car. My un-named partner insisted I hold the snake out the window (as the snake was wrapped around my arm comfortably) while my partner drove us 2 blocks to the wash, where to his relief, I let the snake safely go. Still makes me laugh thinking about the tough guy who wouldn't touch the snake while I was totally unafraid and giggling.
