First of all... I got into the blog but I can't download any photos....only those photos that were on previous blogs. DAMN computer!!!!! (Ok, since I wrote that I have figured out how to download the photos, so fixing the blogs...)
Good warm 41º drizzly morning. We started in with some rain
first thing yesterday but it was never enough to measure. The rain is to
continue on and off for a couple days. My seasonal creeks are usually running
good by now, but not a drop in them.
Well, the good news is that LA Co Sheriff Leroy Baca (CACA!)
is retiring. YES!
The corruption and crap that has gone on since he's been Sheriff is staggering. (4 terms of 4 years each!) As Skirndog said, there should be term limits for Sheriff!!! His hiring program favored friends and relatives. The two outside investigations portrayed a troubled department sharply at odds with the vision Baca preached during his 15 years as sheriff. More recently, The Times also reported that the department had hired dozens of officers in 2010 despite background investigations that found they had committed significant misconduct.
The Department needs Bob Olmstead....

I guess Baca figured he might be indicted along with his
incompetent stupid gang-banger unqualified unprofessional and criminal lawless
deputies! One can only hope. Now the voters have a choice between a good guy,
Olmstead and the politically motivated and corrupt former Undersheriff
Tanaka...
"Tanaka has been criticized for his affiliation with the
"Vikings", a secret police organization brought to light amidst police
misconduct litigation in 1990. Sheriff Lee Baca acknowledged Tanaka still has a
tattoo related to the group, which a federal judge described as "neo-Nazi, white
supremacist gang." Tanaka was tattooed as a member of the Vikings deputy gang in
1987, while serving as a deputy at the Lynwood station. On March 7, 1988, Tanaka
was involved in a controversial killing of an unarmed Korean American in Long
Beach, sparking outrage among Korean American community leaders. Oh yes, LA
County needs him to be in charge. Not.
Still problems with my computer, Turk working on the big one
and with this laptop I can't even log into the blog site. Just so frustrating.
Also I can't control the font on my email. I'm ready to give up with this
computer sh*t!!!!
I was asked about homemade soup ..
Crockpot, large carton chicken stock, dried mushrooms (or use fresh sliced), golden mushroom soup, sliced garlic (I use dried from Costco), Tabouli (or use orzo, rice, couscous, quinoa), whole wheat rigatoni (I only like the whole wheat pasta in soup, not with sauce!), diced sweet potato, and at the end I added half a package of frozen peas. (I know, BFF you hate peas! Use green beans or okra or broccoli or.....? whatever you have/like.) All cooked in crockpot on low for 5 hours. Really good! But, like most things I cook, it's a little of this and that I have on hand.

I suggest you
go to this site and order some. It's the BEST! Or if you are close to Grants
Pass, stop in the store oat 413 Union (near the Three Rivers Hosp). They have
free samples. Once you try it, you are hooked!
One of my favorites is their Trail
Toffee (a finalist in the NY Fancy Food Show for Outstanding Snack Food
Category) ... I like to make oatmeal cookies and instead of just putting raisins
in the cookie dough, I put this in. It is a mixture of English Toffee with
toasted almonds, dried cranberries and raisins. OMGOOOD!!!!!
