COLD ~ Mom & Dad ~ Garage Security ~ Baked String Cheese Balls ~ Bruiser & Dude ~ Dee

Good 25º somewhat clear morning here. Everything frozen........again. Darn!
The Siskiyou Summit isn't looking too fun....
Neither is downtown Grants Pass....

Today is the anniversary of my Mom and Dad's wedding. Leslie Laney and Margaret Mills eloped to Tombstone Arizona in 1926.
Tombstone was the county seat. Mother lived in Bisbee Arizona, and worked in a city office. Daddy was with the US  Marshall's office and was passing through the area, met my mom, fell in love.... the rest is history... Here they are at their 50th wedding anniversary at the Huntington Hotel on Oak Knoll in Pasadena....
"In 1882 the Cochise County Courthouse was built at a cost of about $45,000.
It provided offices for the county sheriff, recorder, treasurer, board of supervisors, and included a well built jail. The courthouse was a comfortable symbol of law and stability in these turbulent times. The county seat remained in Tombstone until voters in 1929 chose to move it to Bisbee, a bustling copper mining town 29 miles away." After they were married they lived in Douglas Arizona for a while and then moved to So. California. They lived in Hollywood and moved to El Sereno (ELA, next to Ahlambra and south of Pasadena) where I was born and grew up.

Got this from George Bachmeier (LASD ret).... some good information for those of you with garages....
Garage Security
The following videos show hot to break into a garage and how to also deter thieves that may try it. Share with your family and friends...
How to get into a garage:

.... and how to prevent it:

My friend Linda Rohrbaugh (she breeds and sells German Shepherds if anyone is interested!) found the following and shared it...
String cheese chopped into bite size pieces, dipped in milk and bread crumbs. Bake at 425º for 8-10 minutes. Serve with marinara sauce. She said she made it for her grandkids but she said there wasn't enough left to share! LOL~ Go Linda!

Brandy Alexander Day

To transition out of Healthy Food Month at THE NIBBLE and gird ourselves for Valentine’s Day carbs, we thought we’d celebrate Brandy Alexander Day.
It’s dangerously good—like a spiked milkshake.
According to the Classic Cocktail Club of Milan, Italy, the Brandy Alexander was created in 1922 in London, “at the time of” the wedding of Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood to Viscount Lascelles. However happy that marriage turned out, we’re happy the Brandy Alexander is part of its legacy.
BRANDY ALEXANDER RECIPE
Ingredients Per Serving
  • 1-1/2 ounces brandy
  • 1 ounce dark creme de cacao
  • 1 ounce half-and-half
  • 1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  •

    Preparation
    1. Fill a shaker halfway with ice cubes.
    2. Add brandy, creme de cacao and half-and-half; shake well.
    3. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with grated nutmeg.

TURN A BRANDY ALEXANDER INTO DESSERT
Add a scoop of chocolate or vanilla ice cream and serve in a globe wine goblet or other alternative to a martini glass.

Thanks sharing the piece about the garage door. I think John must have seen this a while back bcause he has been insisting on locking the door coming into the house from the garage. After all these years I have wondered WHY? Now I know!

I say this every time I see her pic but you sure look like your mom!

Of course Bruiser likes sleeping on your MOUSE pad! lol
