Good 55º morning. I heard the rain all night. On and off most
of the day yesterday. We got another near 1/2" .. just shy of 1" for the two
days.
7:30 this morning....
Interesting football day yesterday.. (I'm smiling!)
Yesterday I finally finished the hummus I had started. I like
the Palouse Washington dried garbanzos. Soak, cook, cool, drain, rinse.
So, the first batch was standard... 2 cups beans, about 1/4
cup olive oil, 1/3 cup tahini, several garlic cloves that I had roasted, 1/4 cup
lemon juice, some grated lemon peel, and a pinch of sea salt.
When the tahini (sesame paste...tasts a lot like peanut butter! and the Far Easteners like it on toast with jelly) stands it separates, so I put it in the little
blender and smoothed it out...
Second batch was olive tepenade, garlic cloves, and green
onion dip mix. Also added in lemon juice and olive oil.
Third batch was Chipotle and garlic cloves (a lot!) and lemon
juice and olive oil.
All three passed the taste test. WOW the Chipotle goes down
smooth and then bites! Love them all! (also good with raw veggies!)
Headed over to Jennifer Murphys for an afternoon with friends... Fall is
here!
There is an old old cabin where Robertson Bridge Road meets Artlin Drive ..
a stop sign, and Artlin goes to Lower River Rd and Wildlife Images...
Anyway.... as I was driving by there were two women standing outside the
cabin and in the missing window sat a naked girl with a white scarf around her
neck, not covering much! They were photographing her...
LOL, this isn't her... I superimposed a gal into the cabin window! But, you
get the idea. Dee saw it, Tammy saw it... but their husbands were driving and
missed the whole thing! Too bad guys! Unfortunately for Bill, he and Jeannie
came from Lower River Road and weren't even close...
So, took the hummus and pita chips to Jennifer's(she is my pal
from the Kitchen Company store and fellow SOW Sista!) This is 'Heaven' greeting
you when you drive into Jennifer's gate... she is a big sweet gentle sweet 16
month old ....
Then there is Keeper and Moody ...
... and Bridey Murphy the cat...
We ...Paul Tammy Allgood, Bill Jeannie Patterson, & Dee
and Dale Yellin, and Erika and Jennifer and I enjoyed lots of good food.
Jennifer had pork ribs that were DELISH and she made a cheese/mushroom spread
that was GREAT on toasts and a lentil/pea salad that was WONDERFUL!
Tammy brought SUPER good guacamole. Jeannie made AWESOME
jalapeño popper dip. Dee had baby tomatoes stuffed with olives and cheese and
jalapeños. OMGOOD!
Jeannie brought dessert... zucchini bars with cream cheese icing... OINK
OINK OINK. Good time! (Smilebox to follow)
The drive home was almost in the dark...
When I arrived home, Dude had a sniff-fest from all Jennifer's
doggie smells that were on me! It was like, "Where ya been Mom? Huh? Huh? Huh?"

Checkers Day and
Dog In Politics Day
Get out the Checker Board. Today is Checkers Day. So, do you want the
red checkers? Or, the black ones?
It may surprise you to know that it is also Dogs in Politics Day. Read
on, and we will explain the connection.
Origin of Checkers Day:
In 1952, Richard M. Nixon was a candidate for Vice-President of the United
States, running with Dwight D. Eisenhower. Media speculation centered around an
$18,000 campaign contribution, and speculation that Nixon may have used some for
his personal use. In a brilliant political maneuver, Nixon took his case to the
American people.
On September 23, 1952, Richard Nixon gave a speech that directly addressed
and explained the issue. He assured the public that he did not use any of the
funds for personal use. Towards the end of the speech, he stated that his
daughters had received a dog, which they named "Checkers", as a gift. He said
they would keep the dog.
This speech quickly became known as the "Checkers" speech, and went on to be
one of the better speeches in American political history.
With "Checkers" the dog included in the speech, this day was sometimes
referred to as Dogs in Politics Day.

Fun time yesterday with great friends and great food. Love your hummus. Thanks for letting me take some home! Jennifer has a wonderful home and her critters are so lovable. It really was a nice day.
I guess I am glad your Patriots won, but in the dumps with my
9r's. Oh well, like we said yesterday, it is just the beginning of a fun season!
Interesting read about "checkers". Never knew that, sadly admitting.
Off to start my day. Enjoy yours and the cool weather. chat later, and thanks for the blog. xo

Thank you my Sisterfriend! Glad you liked the hummus, but I think your jalapeno dip was the BIG hit!!! Soooooooooooo good. Should be an interesting football year! I'm always happy when my family/friend's teams win and sad for them when they lose. :o( You are sad, Brian is happy. Sigh.... Love you. xox
The food sounds so good. Waiting for the smile box! Jennifer's fur babies are so darn cute!

Tammy, Smilebox tomoorrow.... yes, fur babies are super! xo
Shooting that woman at the cabin? I have no idea...for a porn magazine???
Hope your birthday is good Moon! xo
Thank you for the hummus recipe. I have tried to make before but it wasn't tasty. Your affirmation this combo works is good enough for me.
We may not agree with the politics of some of our presidents- but I like all their pets. Particularly the dogs.
You know L, like pasta or cream soups, you can add flavors that flip your skirt and they all work! xo
Beautiful picture of the Eagles!!! And always of your pasture...hey
would you like to board a horse on
your pasture??? ha ha ha ha She's
really pretty and likes treats!
Along with her owner, well the treats part anyway! :)
Thanks Laura... as for the horse, since we back up to the BLM and there are lots of bears and cougars here...I would be too worried about the horse's safety. You are funny! Yes, you are pretty and I'm sure you like treats too! xo
