Today is also my 50th high school reunion. It's taking place in Newport Beach. Sorta wonder why it's down there and not in the San Gabriel Valley where we lived. Oh well...  Our class was the S'63 Delphians... from Woodrow Wilson High School in El Sereno. Have fun kids, wish I was there! I look forward to the photos of the event!

Yesterday I took Maggie in to the vets for x-rays. He wanted to find out why she is always panting. I was a nervous wreck all day and sad that I may lose my Maggie. Went back at 5pm and he showed me the x-rays. Maggie has chronic bronchitis ... or COPD! OMG. She will be on Prednisone.  He was as amazed as I was that she didn't have any other problems...like growths in her body or lungs, etc. Six more months she will be 15!

I spent some of the time yesterday getting the items ready to box up to send to Casey in Afghanistan...
This are part of the items... Cup of Soup, Raman Noodles, Rice Krispie Treats, nuts, nasal spray, lip balm, deodorant, stomach relief tablets, eye drops, wipes, pumpkin seeds, Band-Aids, sunflower seeds, cough drops, hard candy, gum, and Slim Jims. Most of this is boxed and I have to fill out the customs forms for each box.

All I know. JCRW Annual Ronald Reagan BBQ today at an historic local farm, Handley Farm. It is to raise monies for our Education Fund. We supply copies of the Constitution to 9th graders and flags for classrooms.

Happy Saturday. Ciao.

August 17th
National Vanilla Custard Day

and....
National Thriftshop Day is a day for a real bargain.
"Thriftshops" is an old term for stores that sell items deeply discounted merchandise. It's not always the highest quality, but the price is right. You know these stores better today as discount department stores and dollar stores.
Watch for sales and specials today at Thriftshops in celebration of National Thriftshop Day. If you are a store owner, create a sale around this special day, and watch your August sales sizzle!

So glad to hear the news about Missy Maggie. She is a healthy little girl for her age in doggie years.

Love your club's efforts to put flags in the classrooms and Constitutions for the kids. Good for you all. A wonderful thing.

I am sure Casey will be speechless when he receives all those wonderful goodies! Our government should allow these packages to be sent free of charge to our military.

XO Trisha

God bless Casey- and return him safely to his family.

I like Trisha's idea about packages to the military. On regular transport- It shouldn't cost more than what we pay for the first family's dog to travel on vacation- and would be a more fitting use of taxpayer dollars.

You ladies are both right about packages to our military! Some of what I am sending goes in flat rate boxes, that the post office does give $2 off if going to an APO. Wow. $2. Thanks for your comments. xox
