Father's Day ~ California Law? ~ Party @ Brian&Jen's ~ Mexican Dip ~ Jarhead ~ Jim & Sally

Good 48º clear sunny morning. We got to the 87º neighborhood yesterday. Probably the same today. Although the humidity was HIGH yesterday. UGH. Some clouds coming and going this morning...

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY  to all the dads out there!!! I hope you have a wonderful day of 'treats' and love from your children!! ♥

Daddy I miss you! ♥

I got these two shirts for Brian...

OMG, I received this from several sources. California lawmakers are SICK!!! They have nothing better to do???  Crime, unemployment... .can't they work on that instead of this, possibly the MOST stupid bill I have ever heard of!

Picture of the day... somewhere over France....cool!

Yesterday morning I went to Grants Pass to the eye care office and got new glasses ordered. They will be ready tomorrow or Tuesday. YEAH. Came home and made a layered dip for Brian and Jen's party. They were having a get together for their friends Sandy and Lloyd who are moving from Glendale Oregon, just up I-5 here, to somewhere close to Astoria.

The food theme was Mexican. The dip I made called for "refried black beans". Can't find those pre-made, so I got a couple cans of black beans, drained them (do not rinse), heated a bit of oil and added the beans, mashing them with a potato masher. Added 2 T. chili powder and 1 t. of cumin. Then they went into a 9" pan. When cooled I added a layer of sour cream, grated cheese, chopped avocado, chopped tomato (seeds removed), and sliced olives. Sprinkled some Garlic seasoning on top and a pinch of sea salt.

Those refried black beans are awesome! I am going to make more as a side and add onion and cheese to the beans! Mmmm....

Jen had watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, veggies and dip, and my dip.

Jen also made beef taco filling and had cut up chicken.  Reese made the guacamole, and cut up lettuce-tomatoes-cheese for the tacos. Christina made enchiladas! Everything soooo good!!!

The girls gabbed in the kitchen... Hi Sandy!

And the guys outside.....
All the children had fun.

Jen had set up an Ice Cream Sundae Bar... so everyone had fun making their own special sundaes.  Nice day. Fun party.

Came home and decided to watch a movie made in 2005, called Jarhead. Starred Jake Gyllenhall. SO disappointing. It made all the Marines out to be nut cases. The esprit de corps was not there! The F word was overused! Along with many other cuss words. It was supposed to take place in 1989 at the beginning of the Gulf War and all it showed was these guys digging in the sand, doing terrible things to each other, and generally a mockery of our greatest heroes! This movie cannot be watched if there are any young children near!

The food looks incredible! Looks like so much fun- although I'm sure everyone missed Atlas. Jen could be an event planner! t and g

The food was fabulous. Jen is an awesome party planner. She's getting into that party planning. Didn't talk about Atlas too much. Jen explained what happened to her girlfriend who hadn't known. Hard. xo

Oh YUM! My kind of partaaaa! Love Mex food! Your dip was pretty as a picture! :) A cook book picture!
Whose baby was that in the kitchen shot?
Also curious as to what that pot is in the middle of Brian's seating place. What did you call it? Very nice and a great place for the guys to visit!

Don't you just hate it when Hollyweird lefties make a movie about our military and portray them to be nuts and idiots? Usually pretty gruesome too!

mmmmm Fudge Day! Make mine peanut butter please! :)
Loved Brian's Lawn Enforcement shirt. I didn't understand the San Diego one.

Hi T, The "pot" in the middle of the outdoor seating area is a fire pit, propane. I would call that a pergola. The hot tub used to be there. The other shirt is Marine Corps bootcamp... Brian was at MCRD in 1990 ... Marine Corps Recruit Depot. xo

Happy you made a man a fathers day!

Love the lawn patrol t shirt. Mine is pretty sad- but until the construction is done- worrying about it is a waste of time.

The current taste in movies to be made- not very many make anyone look good. The language- God bless the inventor of remote controls.
