Lavender Honey ~ Dry Ice ~ Cheese Roll Burgers ~ Army Day

Good 46º cloudy morn. Rain predicted. Drizzled all day yesterday. Lawn mower repair shop said mower almost ready, it may come back today. Still can't mow wet grass!

Breakfast yesterday..... cut up banana, apple, and fresh blueberries and raspberries. Topped with some lavender honey Judy Duvall brought me from her trip to France! OMG, so good!!!

I found the honey on Amazon.com and with the bonus points I had racked up, it only cost me $6. It's $16 + shipping. Comes from Chicago. Boy, it's good though.

I was just reading a Democratic publicity release that said, "Out of 44 US Presidents ... and after a little more than 4 years, Obama has been rated the 5th best president ever."

The details according to the White House publicists...:
Reagan, Lincoln, and 8 others tied for first, 15 presidents tied for second, 17 other presidents tied for third, Jimmy Carter came in 4th, and Obama came in 5th.

Although personally I would tend think that Obama would be 6th ... and Clintoon, the draft dodging lying sex maniac would be 5th. Just MHO!

Yesterday UPS delivered my Omaha Steaks order ... so I was playing with the dry ice.... Fun!!!

Today is Army Day, but not officially celebrated any more...but to those of you who served, God Bless you and thank you for your service!

Army Day can be traced back to a little-known Defense Test Day, which was observed only twice: once in 1924 and once in 1925. Congress then disallowed any further observances of this day. In response, the Military Order of the World War under Colonel Thatcher Luquer established Army Day. Army Day was first celebrated on May 1, 1928. That date was chosen in hopes of dampening Communists' celebration of Workers' Day, which also occurs on May 1. But, starting in 1929, Army Day was changed to April 6, the anniversary date of the United States' entry into World War I.

Army Day was established as a nationwide observance to draw public attention to national defense and to acquaint the public with Army activities. In addition, the day was used to stress the need for military preparedness, which the nation had lacked as it entered earlier major conflicts. "The failure to make adequate preparation for the inevitable struggle, the consequent suffering from disease and death entailed upon the armies which were hastily raised, the prolongation of the conflict far beyond the time which sufficient and equipped forces would have required for victory, and the heavy costs of reconstruction" were caused by the lack of preparation of the nation.

On April 4, 1936, President Roosevelt issued a proclamation that Army Day be recognized by Congress as April 6 and observed nationwide. On March 1, 1937, Congress passed Resolution 5-75 which officially recognized Army Day

Army Day was last observed nationally on April 6, 1949.

Now that is a good looking Fokker!

Got me to thinking. Maybe instead of Tarter Sauce we could call it Tartan Sauce? I know, bad jokes.

Go Tucker! The fastest way to the Bigs is to be a catcher. Most important man on the team. You can watch a game just by watching the catcher.

You must have had your coffee already! Silly.

Brian was a catcher in little league and was GOOD! He could have gone pro, but bad knees, so became a Marine instead!

Good Morning,

Yeah for rain, you don't have to mow! Looks like maybe for a few more days you will be off the hook.
Your cut up fruit looks delicious, and I bet that honey over it really kicked it up. Yum
5th best president? Hmmmmmmmmm
I will have to check out the Omaha Steaks as we talked about last night. Bill, I am sure, would love them.
Your hamburger looks soooo good. I think I have had those cheese rolls before from Fred Meyer. At least that's what theirs look like. They are so good. Did you have the other one for breakfast?
Good luck to Tucker today on his first game. I know he will do fantastic. Stay dry and have a wonderful day. xo
