~ Dusting of Snow ~ Lemon Infused Oil ~ Turkeys Chase Coyote ~

Good 38º drizzly morning. It appears we got 1/4" since yesterday. Still comin' down.

Not the best weather on our summit, but not the worst either...

Yesterday I infused some olive oil with lemon oil. I have been doing this for some time and really like the lemon flavor on a lot of things. I buy this oil from www.Boyajianinc.com . They have many already infused oils... basil, chipotle, habanero, jalapeño, garlic, rosemary, scallion, oregano, etc... and some great vinegars. The first lemon infused oil I bought came from The Creamery. It's awesome, but over $20 a bottle. This is way cheaper for the amount I like to use. I buy the olive oil at Costco. So, heat the oil, add the lemon oil, bring it to 170º, remove from heat and let come to room temp. You would use about 1/4-1/2 t. of the lemon oil to 1 cup of olive oil.... adjust to your taste...add more.... start small.

I saw a strange thing yesterday.... I've seen bucks go after the turkeys if the turkeys are bugging the fawns, but Mr. Coyote passed by way down in the pasture, looking in the direction of the flock of Toms and Jakes.... and some of them took off in his direction~! Like they were going to go after him! Wow. He didn't dally, he took off. Interesting, a coyote afraid of turkeys. So, I did some research and found this...
OMG, no wonder coyotes are afraid of turkeys!!!! LOL.

Here is an interesting article 'On Sheep, Sheepdogs, and Wolves' ... Written by a former Army Ranger who trains elite military and law enforcement year round. Also written by a former MP in Viet Nam and retired from Portland Oregon PD. Good read if you are into the psychology of those who prey, those preyed upon, and those who protect. Sent to me by Terry Bonyea (LASD ret). Thanks Terry!

Good morning. Once I stop living like Little House on the Prairie (water heater should be replaced tomorrow) I'm going to make some of that lemon oil infused olive oil to cook with.
