Trish & John ~ Groundhog Day ~ Critters Under Hood ~ Longest Fingernails ~ Fish ~ Jalapeño Bacon

Good 35º gloomy foggy morning.

Happy Groundhog Day. (Whoopppeee)

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. (AP) - An end to winter's bitter cold will come soon, according to Pennsylvania's famous groundhog.

What a special day today is... my friends John & Trish Bowler (John ret LASD...he worked at ELA when I was there... super guy!) are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY KIDS!!! You have done it all... worked hard, raised 4 boys, and now are grandparents to a darling young Matthew, son of  JJ...

and sweet baby girl Isabella,

Life has been good for you. I am happy you can celebrate this milestone! I raise my glass to you. xo

.... and I took this off Trish's FB page... what a HOOT!!!!

Yesterday the All Natural Pest Control guy showed up early. Yeah. Jeff. Nice. Raised in Auburn Ca. Likes cars. Loves Escalades! He set a bait trap in the carport. I will check on it. After I posted about the critters I got a phone call from an old friend, Barry Perrou (LASD ret) who told me about his neighbor having a similar problem. He had his car fixed and then sprayed WD40 in the engine compartment. No more problems with rats chewing wiring. So.... I opened the hood when Jeff was here, telling about this. After just one night there was a residue of acorns on a flat spot under the hood. Also rat/mouse turds. Swell. I sprayed the WD40 in a number of places, not on the engine or wiring where it would get hot. Apparently the critters don't like the smell of the WD40. I hope! We'll see today if there are any more footprints or acorn residue or if the bait has been gnawed on. Thanks Barry!

1941 – Lee Redmond, owner of the longest fingernails until February 10, 2009
....In a Huffington Post story published on September 3, 2009 it was stated that: "Lee Redmond, who lost the fingernails in February, says it's now much easier to do things and her hands seem to fly with the weight of the nails gone. The 68-year-old won't grow her nails out again, saying it took 30 years the first time and she may not live for another 30." Her nails are currently about four inches long, however.

Maggie and I took a ride down to PJ & Dave's to feed the fish... he has a million of them!
Well, not quite a million, but a LOT! Fixed the netting so it wasn't laying on top of the water and all were happy they could reach the food without me standing there and holding it up!

Brian called yesterday, he was out picking up rolls for sandwiches for his SB party. The guy he gets them from also gave him some "jalapeño bacon"! OMG. That started my drool button! Can't wait to try it!!! Found this:

All I know. Happy Saturday. Gonna get some of the Super Bowl foods fixed today.... Ciao.

National Heavenly Hash Day (2 versions)

1c Mandarin oranges, drained
1 c Pineapple chunks, drained
1 c Flaked coconut
2 c Miniature marshmallows
1 c Sour cream (high quality)
1 tb Sugar (I use equivalent Splenda)
6 Maraschino cherries for the Garnish (optional)

Mix all the canned fruit, sugar and coconut thoroughly in mixing bowl. Fold in the sour cream and marshmallows. Transfer to decorative serving bowl, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate up to 24 hours. Right before serving you could garnish with a few maraschino cherries placed on the top of the salad.

Good morning. I suppose one way out of housework is ridiculously long nails):-
Shannon did Farrah's hair on occasion. Both she and Jaclyn Smith are angels, but not just Charlies.

When I must bait- it goes in the attic and or way back into plastic drain pipes as far from the house as I can manage. I cross my fingers because we have pets- but in this imperfect life, not everything can be protected.

Good Morning.

Happy 50th Anniversary to Trish and John. Have a spectacular day!
The lady with the nails is disgusting. Cleanliness has me worried! LOL
Farrah's hair style should never be "out of style". I love it.
I'm with you, I enjoy watching Ina cook. She has some great ideas.
Well, enough of my ramble, off to start my day. Thanks for the blog and good luck with your critters.
Chat later. xo

Thanks Jeannie! Hope you day goes well and you don't find any critters in your motorhome! Yes, Farrah and her hair were awesome!

Jose Eber was her original hairdresser, glad Shannon got to participate too Lydia! Shannon working for Jose puts her in some interesting scenarios with celebs.

Sue,
Thanks ever so much for the shout out and all the photos for our anniversary. It is nice to be remembered by good friends.
Thank you too Jeannie.

I too find that lady with the nails sooooo disgusting! I am wondering what her point was!! (No pun intended:) How in the world does she do ANYTHING??? At four inches they are still disgusting.

I tried for years and years to immulate Farrah's hair style but could never get it to look like that. I am thinking she just had thick and awesome hair to be able to hold such a style. Maybe I should have gone to Jose for the style. LOL Maybe taken out a loan to do so?? :(

Hope the WD40 works!

mmmmmmJalapeno bacon bread sounds wonderful!! Enjoy tomorrow!!

Nancy,
Thank you so much for the wonderful compliment. I usually say I got married when I was a toddler but the pictures sort of give me away. :)

I always check back on the comments on Sue's blog so that's why I saw your comments. Thank you again.
