Special Pup ~ Goosies Have Returned! ~ Fettuccine Alfredo

Good 33º cloudy very foggy (what's new?) morning. We did get a bit of sun again yesterday before the clouds roared in and the wind kicked up. Rain came down for a few about midnight. Pressure now going up. Snow predicted for tomorrow.

This from my buddy Joe Kirk....

Historically this date...
1935 – The classic board game Monopoly is invented.
I have a few... original one from 1930's that was my family's with arrow... with the original game pieces made from metal and the hotels made from wood....

1962 – The United States bans all Cuban imports and exports.
.... sad for all the Cuban cigar smokers!

1964The Beatles first arrived in the United States. Their performance on The Ed Sullivan Show two days later would mark the beginning of the British Invasion.

1995Ramzi Yousef, the mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, is arrested in Islamabad, Pakistan.

And births this date include...
1804John Deere, American manufacturer (Deere & Company) (d. 1886)

....it's a birth date for writers!
1812Charles Dickens, English novelist (d. 1870)

1867Laura Ingalls Wilder, American author (d. 1957)

1885Sinclair Lewis, American writer, Nobel Prize Laureate (d. 1951)

1908Buster Crabbe, American swimmer and actor (d. 1983)

1955 – Miguel Ferrer, American actor
When he was younger he and Donnie Wahlberg (Bluebloods) looked a lot alike...

1962Garth Brooks, American singer

1978 – Ashton Kutcher, American actor
                             gag!

Yesterday 'my' goosies came back! Every year like clock work they fly in, honking, and sit on the barn roof awaiting the rest of the family. (I know it's "geese" .... don't give me a bad time!) They are friendly to me, probably because there is cracked corn out there for them. They will nest, eggs will hatch in the Spring, and off they will go until next year. I always enjoy their visits! Hi goosie gooses!

Yesterday was haircut day. Had fun at the shop with Leah and the 'girls'. We did a lot of laughing! Then the market, post office, and to Ace. I showed Dave at Ace the good job the WD40 did keeping out the critters. Told him to pass it on. He did say he's never had a problem, but then he said he sprays off his engine with WD40 and wipes it down periodically. DUH, Dave you invented this!!!!

Then a drive out to Jeannie and Bill's to deliver her the Avon I had ordered from Kristen. It was one of those great deals... buy one and get two free and free shipping! Zowie. Anyway, Jeannie and I had a wine and chatted. Such a great view from their top of the hill house! I didn't take any pictures but the clouds were many shades of grey and pink and yellow.

All I know. Phone guy supposed to be here today, maybe, to transfer the phone lines from the old pole to the new pole. Then I have to notify power company to take out the old pole. Frank (my neighbor) is going to use the pole to repair our bridge down by the main road.

Nuff said. Happy Thursday. Ciao.

February 7th
National Fettuccine Alfredo Day

Be creative... add anything you like to this, like bacon, mushrooms, chicken, cut up leftover steak, green beans, peas, broccoli, green onion, parsley.... be brave and experiment!
or..... here's another recipe....

Alfredo Sauce (Heavy Cream)

2 T Butter or margarine
1 sm Onion, thinly sliced
4 c Whipping cream
2 T Parmesan cheese
1 t Fresh grated nutmeg
1/2 t Salt
1/2 t Pepper

Heat margarine in skillet, over medium heat. Saute onion until tender. Stir in whipping cream, heat to boiling. Stir in remaining ingredients. Reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring often. Makes about 3 1/2 cups. Serve with up to 6 servings of hot fettuccine. (6 servings = 12 oz dry pasta or 2 oz. per serving).

...Or buy a jar of sauce already made....

Sue,
Sorry I didn't have time to comment yesterday. (dental app) I LOVED the little toddler and dog. That was so precious. I do hope you put it on PWL.
Love seeing the pics of your goosies! :)
I buy the sauce in the jar and it is excellent. Love making that dish with shrimp.

Thanks for posting. I saw it the minute you posted it. I copied the link and sent to all my guys. They will love it too. That baby reminds me so much of JJ when he was that age.

I collected signs and gameboards. Most of the Chinese Checker ones are from the 1930's. So, when I collect I hang them on the wall. I'll show you my sign wall someday. xo
