Adult Beverages ~ Bruiser ~ Halloween ~ Uncle Jimmy/Paul ~ Crockpot Soup

Good 48º cloudy, possibility of rain not today, morning.

Yesterday the rain started in just after 9am and POURED! And it was WINDY!!! Leaves everywhere! We ended up with 1/2". Stopped in the afternoon and every got to trick or treat!

Where in the HEQQ did October go? Sheeesh......

On Tuesday my pals Patty and Cliff came back from the coast. Liquor in Oregon is very expen$ive compared to Ca. We have state run liquor stores and they don't get a lot of stuff the Ca stores get. So, when P&C come back from Gold Beach they pass through part of N. Cal and stop at the All Star Liquor Store. Such fun to shop there, like the one in Redding, Liquor Barn. They have such variety you could spend half a day in there just looking. Anyway, the bought me a bottle of pumpkin pie vodka. WOW, good! It was an early Christmas present. I had asked them to see if the store had Nutliquor (peanut flavored liquor) and Watermelon/Cucumber vodka ... yes on both! Such fun to experiment. Makes for interesting martinis!

Bruiser was gone all day Tuesday from in the morning early until yesterday morning. He finally showed up and was soaking wet. Hungry too..

Later I saw him out on the trampoline... but he moved as soon as he heard the door open. A good vantage point for Mr. Hunter!

I went into town yesterday to drop the mummy cupcakes off at Brian's office for the kids ... and a couple for Emily too. I was 'dressed' in my Halloween garb... black cat shirt, Halloween sweater, and ghost earrings (eyes blinked red)....

Brian gave me a pair of State Farm sunglasses, but he posed in them for me....

Then I saw Bill and Jeannie's car at the Elks so I stopped... Chaka posed... and of course I gave her a dog cookie!

Then it was off to the market and I got a pumpkin so I can stuff and bake it. Also got some Kraft Sandwich Shop Chipotle Mayonnaise and some Twist of Lime Mayonnaise! Mmm.... The didn't have the Garlic Herb, next time. These are REALLY GOOD!!!

I stopped at the Post Office to pick up a couple of packages and then at Ace to see what was going on. All the kids in town were trick or treating at the businesses from about 3pm.... At Ace Uncle Jimmy was the go to guy for candy... I was sneaking up on him from the back and he threw a bunch of candy at me! LOL. I had "snacks" on the way home!

And Paul was creeping him out with kisses!

I had put ingredients for soup in the crockpot before I left and it was ready when I was for dinner.....

I didn't like the 'veggie penne' with sauce, but in the soup it cooked a few hours and was really good! A large can of cream of chicken soup, a can and a half of water and 1/2 a can of wine, broccoli florets and broccoli slaw, red bell pepper, olives, canned chicken, sliced garlic, red onion, and mushrooms. AWESOME!

So after dinner I was sitting in my chair, it was dark out but movement outside caught my eye. At first I thought it was deer in the yard eating the acorns. As it turned out there were over 20 elk eating the acorns! Too dark for a photo. Dang. Then later I went out to get logs for the fire and they all panicked! The whole group of them went in a line over the fence towards the creek and up the hill behind the barn! What a noise too!!! They are something else.

Rick and Lynda Castro (ret LASD) are celebrating their 20th anniversary! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY KIDS!!!

Historically this date....
1800 – US President John Adams becomes the first President of the United States to live in the Executive Mansion (later renamed the White House).

1941 – American photographer Ansel Adams takes a picture of a moonrise over the town of Hernandez, New Mexico that would become one of the most famous images in the history of photography.

I have some of his photos and this one never impressed me. I like many of his other photos... especially the Yosemite series...

1982Honda becomes the first Asian automobile company to produce cars in the United States with the opening of their factory in Marysville, Ohio. The Honda Accord is the first car produced there.

The Pinnacle vodkas are awesome. The cucumber/watermelon is one of my favorites.
