Pumpkin Cocktails ~ Buck & Doe ~ Birds ~ Ketchup & Thousand Island Dressing ~ Chocolate

Good 52º cloudy dark damp morning. Last night they said we are getting rain on Halloween. Good thing Jen is going to dress as Mary Poppins!!! Brian, Tucker, & Sami will be superheroes, Superman, Superboy, & Supergirl! I can't wait to see!

10-28 in radio talk is "VEHICLE REGISTRATION AND WANTS" (complete vehicle registration information)

.... and oops, I forgot about yesterday's code
10-27 .. ANY RETURN ON NUMBER OR SUBJECT?

Time to hit the liquor store for ingredients....

I forgot about Friday. As I was leaving to head into town this doe and buck were standing by the driveway... of course my car scared them....

I went into RR to pass out flyers for my friend, Doug Breidenthal, who is running for Jackson Co. Commissioner. I went through some of the neighborhoods, places in this town I have never been before. Fun. Pretty places up on the hill. I also hit most of the businesses in town. Talked to some nice folks. I was wearing a USMC sweatshirt and that got some of them talking too .. .re family/friends who have been Marines. Cool.

Ok, kids... here is another opinion of mine:
Look at yourselves, my liberal friends!

Early yesterday there was an 'invasion' of crows. I have seen this large flock around the area, and they stopped here! (didn't get too good of pictures....was busy in the kitchen!)

So, now the weird thing is last night I watched The Birds! Alfred Hitchcock's scary movie about seagulls and crows attacking people on the street and in their homes. Tippi Hedren, Rod Taylor  (yummmm) & Suzanne Pleshette.

The movie came out in 1963. I was dating a young man, Ronnie Ruggiero, who lived across the street from my sister north of San Francisco in Corte Madera. He took me to SF to see the movie. When we left the theater from the back door and went up an alley there was a car lot with their lights out and Ron grabbed my arm and said in a frightened tone "LOOK.... BIRDS!" The string of lights that were out looked like birds sitting on a wire! OMG. And the movie was supposedly filmed in Bodega Bay. We had just been to Bodega Bay the previous day!
I don't like scary movies, but this is the BEST of all I have ever seen!

In the movie Tippi Hedren plays "Melanie Daniels"... so, that's where Melanie Griffith (her daughter) got her name!

Yesterday I was being somewhat creative and decided to make this spread/dressing recipe I saw.
Ingredients:
1 cup mayo
1/4 cup chili sauce
1/4 cup ketchup
1 t. prepared mustard
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 t. Worcestershire sauce
1 t. black pepper
2 T. minced onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
juice of one lemon

Sooooooo. not having any ketchup on hand I made some, more like tomato paste, from sun dried tomatoes. Soaked them in boiling water, put in food processor with balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, olive oil, minced onion, garlic powder, & salt. Came out very tasty!

Next you put the mayonnaise in a wide mouth quart jar. I used 2/3 c regular mayo and 1/3 cup black pepper mayo. I used the homemade ketchup, instead of regular mustard I used a teaspoon of Gray Poupon and a teaspoon of 'cranberry mustard'. (Sorry Jeannie, I told you raspberry mustard!) I put in my infused olive oil instead of vegetable oil, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and I used reconstituted mince red onion, also I used garlic powder instead of fresh garlic (fresh goes bad so quickly) and I used lemon juice from the bottle.

Once all ingredients are in the jar, put on the lid and have a workout shaking it!! Then I added 2 big spoonfuls of sweet pickle relish.

Refrigerate overnight before using. "Great with seafood, on sandwiches, or as a dressing." It is very tasty! I want to try it with some cooked shrimp and on a wedge of lettuce. You don't have to put in the pickle relish, but it gives it that Thousand Island taste or Bob's Big Boy dressing or In-N-Out dressing taste! Really! And I LOVE the cranberry mustard. OMG.

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Sunday. Ciao.

Wow! My mother would have been 87 today. She had some good birthday company! Funny because when I modeled for Revlon they called me "Revlon's Suzy Parker" and her birthday is today too.

I like your Obama and sheeple pic! Oh so true!

Glad to hear you are working to help your "R" friend get elected!!

XO Trisha
p.s. Waiting for the limo to arrive with Daryl and Becky returning from the honeymoon cruise.

I love the movie The Birds- scares me every single time. I've been reading that Hitchcock was not a very nice man lately.
That sauce looks divine!!!!! Tammy

I'm reading late today!! Went out for breakfast and Bloody Mary's !

@ Tammy, a friend of mine, Cyndi, wrote about a show on TV about Hitchcock and how he stalked the blonde actresses, I think she said it was called 'The Girl'. Tippi made a couple of movies for him and said never again! Bad man!!

You had bloodys??? I am pea green! xo

Growing up in Whittier, I was spending the night at my girlfriend's house the first time I watched The Birds. More filmmakers should study the power of restraint and anticipation in holding their audience.

Suzy Parker was an interesting read!

Suzy certainly was a beauty. Too bad she died so young. Her hubby was a knockout in his hay day too!
