Shuttle ~ John Berokoff & Jan Vargo ~ Ice Cream Cone Day

Good 40º, ice on the barn roof, morning! Fall? Hope so. What a lazy slob... slept in til 8! Slow going this morning.....

Yesterday morning after watching the initial flying of the Shuttle ....  that was fun!!!

I was in the kitchen washing dishes. I washed out a glass quart jar I had kept flax seed in and then realized I held in my hands something that is extinct on the shelves today. It is a GLASS BF Mayonnaise jar! An antique for sure.

My Kristen lives in No. San Gabriel (southeast of Pasadena) close to where we lived in Temple City. She got these pictures of the shuttle as it passed over her house turning to go northwest to fly over JPL.... Great shots Kristen~!!

Living there in Temple City we'd always get the stealth bomber turning around over our house after making the first pass over the Rose Parade... and heading back to Pasadena...

El Dorado, CA - A couple of weeks ago the U.S. Department of Defense announced the death of Staff Sgt. Sky R. Mote, USMC. The Family of SSGT Mote has asked that you share this video. It is not political or religious. The camera was attached to the motorcycle of a Patriot Guard Rider.
All I know. Off to the kitchen to finish the mouse cookies for Tucker's party today. Happy Saturday. Ciao.

National Ice Cream Cone Day
We had a Curries "Mile High Cones" ice cream shop on the corner of Eastern Ave and Huntington Drive in El Sereno. A favorite place! Wish I had taken a picture of it... this was the only one I could find.
And then in the 70's my Uncle Lloyd owned a DQ east of Sacramento in Rancho Cordova on Folsom Blvd near Mather AFB where my husband, George, was stationed. That was OUR hangout! Yummmm..... and of course Uncle Lloyd never charged us for anything!
Then back to So. Cal and Fosselman's in Alhambra on Main Street near Raymond...

Good memories. Good ice cream!

An Uncle who owned a DQ? How wonderful!
Happy Kristen got the first person pictures for you.

Oh yes, Uncle Lloyd's was the best. He made the best chili dogs in the world!

Funny, Kristen debated if she should stay home in hopes of seeing the shuttle or do errands. Glad she stayed!!!

Way to go Kristen! Great pictures. Pretty exciting to see it pass right over your house.
Unbelievable you have antique mayo jar. Wonder how much you can get for it on e-bay? LOL
The story of Sara jane Moore is an interesting read. Can't believe they let her out.
Well, off to start my day. Enjoy yours, and enjoy those cookies. xo

Sue,

Better late than never, right? LOL

Fabulous photos Kristen!! I saw sooo many wonderful ones taken by friends in the Southland!

Now tell me, did Don Swift work at SEB when John was there? Do they know each other? John was there for ten years! 1972 to '82.
