Precipitation Prediction Again... ~ Marion Eugenia Laney Plumbridge ~ SNAILS!

Good 50º cloudy morning. No rain yesterday or last night as predicted.... pressure dropping and 100% predicted for today. This is what 30% looked like over Medford (yes, again!) yesterday....

Eight years ago today my sister Marion passed away from adult onset leukemia. She was 9 years older than me and was my "other mom" .... then we became best friends. I love her and miss her every single day!

1954 Marion's senior prom....

and with her first born, Andy.....

1961 with Andy Bobby & Jimmy.....

Me thinks this was 1961 or 62....

Historically this date...

1883 – The Brooklyn Bridge in New York City is opened to traffic after 14 years of construction.

1940Igor Sikorsky performs the first successful single-rotor helicopter flight.

1962Project Mercury: American astronaut Scott Carpenter orbits the Earth three times in the Aurora 7 space capsule.

1994 – Four men convicted of bombing the World Trade Center in New York in 1993 are each sentenced to 240 years in prison.

And births this date include...
1686Gabriel Fahrenheit, German inventor and thermometer maker (d. 1736)
........and you always wondered why it was called "fahrenheit" ! BTW, there is a guy named Anders Celsius!

1879H. B. Reese, American inventor of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and founder of H. B. Reese Candy Co. (d. 1956)

1938Tommy Chong, Canadian-born actor and comedian

1941Bob Dylan, American singer and songwriter

1943Gary Burghoff, American actor

1945Priscilla Presley, American actress

 (WTF?)

1967 – Eric Close, American actor

All I know. Nuff said. Happy Thursday. Ciao.

May 24th
National Escargot Day (ugh!)

..... and snail mail....

.... and this for Becky.....

Ahhhh.... and yet a contest.......

A nine-year-old Cheshire schoolgirl has broken the world record for having the most snails on her face at once. Tiana Walton allowed 25 of the slimy creatures to cover her eyes, nose and mouth – beating the previous record of 15 held by Australian Liam Kenny.
Before her record breaking attempt, now in the Guinness Book of World Records, Tiana’s previous personal best was just nine.
She had just one minute to put the snails on her face and then had to tip her head forward for 10 seconds. Any snails that fell off during that period were not counted.

What wonderful pictures of you and your sister Marion. I am sure you miss her very very much.
Fahrenheit, Celsius and then there is Reese. That picture made me drool, then I got down to the end of the blog with the snails, and that made me, well you know, a little .......on that note, have a wonderful day, and thanks for the blog. xo

EWWWWW Now that is totally gross!! I had to FF thru those pics as I couldn't look for long. YUK! So many on the cruise ships love it when escargot is served but the only thing that looks good to me is the garlic butter served with them!!

LOVED your photos with Marion. How sweet and yes you looked like mother and daughter. You were such an adorable little girl! Marion looked like such a sweet person. It seems so unfair that the good ones are taken from us too soon.

I had to laugh at Chong and Dylan as they are both poster children of what you will look like in later years living on pot!!

Hugs!

The snails on the face shot is just so yucky! Wonder what else she does for fun?

Thanks T, re Marion. Everyone LOVED her. My girlfriend Sandy said she ate escargot once and they were real chewy (ugh) and all she cold taste was the garlic butter. A waste! Let's put garlic butter on pasta instead!!! xo
